Things are looking real good MS! How's it coming on the new cab, any progress? How tall is cynthia?
Hi Gumball,

Thanks for sticking around :-) Not done much to the cab as yet, been seeing how things go with the mite issue but its much better now, if not totally clear I have them well under control.

Cynthias not that big, I think I'll do better with the SW seedplants, but I'm not complaining at all, I'm smoking a little bit of SW every day and if I can just pull a solid 14g dry from little Cynthia then things will roll over nicely. Heres Cynthia posing just for you:-) 500ml beer can for a bit of scale. The black outer pot is what I use to keep the roots cool when theyre out in the full sun.

Hi Bigman :-) Thank you my friend. That's what I love about this hobby of ours, we're spread around the world but we have a common bond that unites us.

All the best.

Hey MS. What did you do to cynthia? Topped where? I spoke to a few growing under cfls and heard one big cola( no topping or FIM) produces the biggest and best buds and overall yield is better. Have you tried both methods and decided that topping and lst are the way to go?

Hi RS :-)
I only started topping and training my plants a couple of years ago, before that I always grew single cola plants. I cant honestly say there's any overall difference in yield given everything else being equal. if you think about how those colas form its just lots of side shooting growing vertically to form a single cola. All we do when we top or train is to encourage those side shoots to grow individually. Whenever I used to harvest a single cola plant I always cut out the individual buds anyway for drying! Having seen mould wipe out a harvest of fat single cola plants overnight once, I'm personally happier with smaller individual buds this weather :-) quality of course is unaffected by grow method.

Anyway, to answer the rest of your question Cynthia had her main 'top' removed and was then simply bent right over. Widdecombe was not topped as I think shows, I simply pulled her main top right down and as soon as those lower side shoots began to develop I let her go again. Result is a nice short stocky little plant but with a main growing top intact. I'll add a close up of her to show this.

Thanks MS. I am yet to experience any mould issues but i am still beginning. I think its everyones worst nightmare.

Looking good so far tamjam :-) The clones are still nice and green but no roots yet, I expect to see them root by end of this week. I also got 2 Snow White Fems just cracked and planted. They will be the first seedplants I have grown in ages so I'm looking forward to seeing how they go. The reveg is back to 3 blades, its been 5 weeks and bit so she's going straight back into 12/12 again today :-) She looks nice and healthy. She was one of the original mutant SW clones you gave me mate :-) I'll update with pics in a couple more days time.

Get on MS, I'm very excited for you with the seedplants I cant wait to see how they go for you and to see if you get any special phenos out of them:eyesmoke:

And good luck with the cuttings, like you said by the end of the week they will be 14 days old. I think I may just keep whichever ones root and put them under the 250w up in the loft, not sure what to do as I think they will be shit outside and if I keep them in I'm guaranteed they will make it and give me more bud

How's the weather at yours? It's been well shit here

Well, things continue to roll along here in the micro grow Ganja box :-) Much as I would love to grow bigger plants this keeps me going so I must be content with that. I get to smoke a bit every night and it only takes a little of the Snow White to get me pretty well mashed :-) This box has given me a daily smoke for 2 years now since scaling down. Here's where things are at, dates are all over the place but when I need some I take some basically! Even cut early the SW does a good job on me!

I have removed the 4 main buds from Cynthia, just over 7 weeks and have left the lower buds to grow on. The 4 buds will give me a good Q+ dry and I count 16 smaller buds that I hope will fill out to about a gram average each when dry. All are small but pretty dense as they are getting a lot of full sun, day after day. No big deal but I'm happy :-) She looks a real bonsai with her flat canopy of small buds now!

Widdecombe is about 3 weeks -ish into flowering and budding nicely. The revegged mutant clone (original clone tamjam) has just gone back into 12/12 and throwing out plenty of shoots. In the veg/clone box are 2 rooted Big Bang clones (cheers again mate :-) ) plus 2 snow white seed plants. I also had 2 Trainwreck clones given to me but due to numbers I have now passed them onto a local grower friend who is going to flower them outdoors :-) I doubt I could have contained them in my little box seeing what tamjam has done with them!

Once Cynthia comes out I'll replace her with a Big Bang clone.

Cheers MS, glad to see things rolling along. Mites must be under control since you didn't mention anything about the little bastards? I also wanted to see if you would be throwing up any pics of the big bangs your friend is going to flower outside. It would be interesting to see how big they can get from a clone when planted outside.

Peace

Big

Hey MS greetings. even though you don't hear from me all that often i keep up to what your doing. One thing I have noticed is that most of your plants have many flowers. on mine I get a decent amount but I usually let 4-5 stalks just get tall and flower up. what do you think is the better way?

lookn real good bud!! i have always read to put the CLF's sideways, better lighting. do you get better lighting as you mount, or is it a difference in the lights you get in the UK, and we get in the states? your results speak for themselves, but your going against the thread seems to be easier and give better results than one may think

Hi there tamjam, jjmd & gumball :-)

To be honest I'm really just running this thread until I upgrade after Summer. At the moment I'm taking advantage of the amount of full sunny days were getting here. I think the quality of the buds I'm currently smoking has more to do with Snow White genetics than my growing of them :-) Just 2 small single skins with a couple of beers and my heads gone! The SW is a very strong strain, its up there with the best I have grown/smoked in the past few years for sure. Could be the old White widow in there as that's always had a powerful effect on me. As I'm not a heavy user these days I find smoking less has a much bigger impact, and that's how I like it.

tamjam, I removed the heat screen due only to cleaning issues, it became a real hassle to remove/replace and to re position the bulbs that had been resting directly on them. So I re hung the bulbs as you see them and the plants fit nicely under them, 3 groups of bulbs about 110 watts per 4 bulbs for a total of 330watts in the box.

jjmd, Ideally I'd grow with just 2 main tops and 2 lower tops and remove everything else, thats the way I used to do it. under my old HPS I could average between 1 and Q to 1 and 3/4 oz dry from my quality genetics off of just 4 main buds: Purple Rhino, UK Cheese, Bubba Kush & Critically Mashed. I lost all of those so its been a long hard road back and I'm not yet back there, but the SW is a sure fire keeper for me (thanks again TJ mate). I just cant get near those yields under this set up, but bud quality is as good, especially the SW mutant pheno. I'm averaging just around the 14 to 21g dry mark, probably closer to the 14g mark, but I'm turning them round faster with staggered flowering. That's about the mark for small heavily trained plants under cheap CFL's I'd say.

Gumball, I saw so many threads with bulbs hung this way I thought I'd try it! But all of this will change when I upgrade at the end of summer :-)

The 2 SW seedplants are doing nicely and the 2 Big Bang clones are well rooted now.

Thought I'd whack up some pics of various plants at different stages. I wont ramble on, I'll just try to describe whats what :-)

Pics show Widdecombe (Snow White mutant clone) around 5 weeks flowering now (red pot), also Perspicacia (Snow White mutant clone - revegged black pot) around start of second week of flowering, alos the remains of Cynthia, just the lower canopy of small buds left on her now for another week or so, all the bigger buds have been removed.

Also the 2 new Nirvana Snow White seedplants, and the 2 Greenhouse seeds Big bang clones nicely rooting up now at 17 days from cutting and a 200 mile postal journey :-) ... cheers again mate.

Also I thought I'd show the exhaust at the top of my little cabinet disguised and surrounded by books!! This is where I dry much of my small buds and you can see the screen I lay them on so the warm exhaust air dries them nicely.

I plan to put one of the SW seedplants into flower next week and veg the other up a little. My priority is to keep 3 plants in flower at any time but at different stages so thers almost alwasy a few buds to chop and dry as supply runs low. My tin is currently nicely full and I'd say Widdecombe looks promising :-)

The pics ......
