Massive pheno variation when ordering seeds

Give an idea what part of the world you are in and what strains or cuts you want.
Im in US, montana. Im growing medicine for my wife which has a pretty high tolerance, so high thc content, leaning more towards treating anxiety and depression. I would like to press a fair amount of rosin and do vape carts so i need one strain with good resin production which is why i mentioned the gg4. Doesnt necessarily need to be that, just plenty of trichs, maybe a cross. Sounds like straight gg4 is not as easy to get and maybe cut only. Aside from the rosin producer, i also want a good tranquilizing indica. Right now i have grape ape and blueberry going in veg, see what they do. Probably let them go long for plenty of amber trichs, maybe even press a separate batch of amber rosin for the knock down vape cart. Sometimes she really gets into a bad way quickly and needs to shut her brain down as quickly as possible. Grabbing the vape would be much quicker than getting out the bong and flower, loading, etc. For a long time my other hobby was building vape mods so i think i can build a pretty aggressive setup, closer to a push button dab. I want to experiment with wickless setups, large surface area clampton coils and such.

So anyway, thats kinda what im looking for
Not set on any specific strain, just a good high resin producer that i can hopefully get without lengthy pheno hunting as well as a good tranquilizing indica.

If you want consistency from seeds try an IBL line. It's been more than 10 years since I grew Afghan Dream and I can't remember who the breeder was now, but it was an excellent IBL, and baby, those suckers grew almost identical from seed to harvest!!

I found the guy to be a PITA, but up in Canada greenthumbs has the original GG and has feminized it. I would contact him and get yourself a reliable source for it.

Are you reffering to dr greenthumb? I just looked through their website and they have gorilla glue #4, but says "new" next to it. Also i thought i read the #4 was cut only but i never know what info is reliable

From my own experience the best bet is to make your own crosses to create a higher chance of vigour characteristics in the offsprings. I personally like to use regular F1's, oldschool stuff and sometimes mix in some new interesting stuff in crosses.

Some of my best seeds and plants have all been crosses by either mistake or not.

Unless you are limited to 4 mature plants and 4 seedlings, as well as wanting to have at least a couple strains. Pheno hunting is just not practical for me
Now don’t take this literally.

But by the time they fully grow their 2nd set of true leaves you get an ‘idea’ of the sativa/indica ratio. As you probably know skinner long leaves sativa/shorter and fat indica.

It’s a simple guide nothing more to growing 8 seedlings then thinning out undesirable traits.

As a previous member said variation is a good thing! It’s like a giant pick and mix rather than a bag of cola bottles..

All good things come in time

Yes. New as in he started carrying it recently. It is cut only but like anything an effort can be made to create seeds.

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. Ill try his gg4 and see how it goes. What kind of variation should i expect? Lets say i pop 4 seeds, is it likely that all will be good trichome producers with just small differences? Or could be huge variety like my bruce banner? I have no idea the source of those genetics, just that i got them from gelato seeds.

if you have 4 kids with the same women what kind of variation would you expect?

Back in the day when i grew 10 years ago, i got cuttings from a caregiver i knew. Always knew exactly what the bud was gonna be and i kept my strains for years with 100% consistency…
Excellent question. I'm at the tail end of a gorilla glue auto flower grow and I've got two plants that are bushy, dark green, and indica looking fan leaves but one plant is 24" tall while the other is 30". The other two plants look like mini-sativas — slender leaves and stalks shooting skyward at 40". I call it my "Twins" grow - de Vito on one side, Schwarzenneger on the other.
No one would ever that they're the same strain from the same grower. The attached pix is ≈ 2 week ago.
Very weird…

I don't think that self-medication of anxiety and depression with cannabis is a good idea. Maybe you should look at cognitive behavioral therapy?

That's fairly normal. It's why people buy known clones for. Do a Pheno hunt and keep the best one and just clone it.

O, their autos.

Yup, they're autos. The two on the right didn't start sending up stems until maybe 6 weeks ago. I referred to them as "LSF's" ("little short fellas").:D
