If there was a market for it they would make them. we get more than enough males as is in reg packs. If I started that bee farm I always wanted to they sure would come in handy

I'd like to point out that "Selfing" is a Hail Mary Play for Cannabis.
It "Thinks" it has to survive so it expresses the opposite sex.
This requires that humans believe Cannabis is a living life form and can "decode" what to do.
In the case of this male, I understand it was alone by a window and perhaps light starved.
So it decided to self itself to make it to the next cycle (season). It satisfied it's need to reproduce.

So in genetics at least we can accept this trait, under extreme environments this strain makes this choice to self itself.
Other genetics may be unknowingly communicating this "Trigger" in different ways generation after generation in my opinion.

That's my take on Hermaphroditic qualities in Cannabis.

I think the only expectation is to conclude weather or not a hermie male will produce males like a hermie female produces females.

There is a market, everyone who wants one male but doesn't want to pop five regs to get one instead just order one seed and get guaranteed pollen.

Also if there is a male only line I think it would be made apparent to growers and community since we like to know everything. This would be news to me.

But in terms of breeding you could find superior males which isnt easy more a pot shot.

Since no one answered I feel like it will just produce regs or gems but if someone knows and can provide information on male only seeds it would be pretty amazing to get to work with something that's new to me.

I looked and it has been done. The result of an XY XY cross is XY or regular seeds not all males.

We get fems from XX XX cross so no Y to make males.

XX XY cross just makes regs which is a standard male female pollination.

The info comes from old breeders who were reversing males to see how the bud smoked before selecting it as a breeding male. Some sterility happened upon reversal which we see in the above pictures as the male anthers are not producing pollen and stopped formation early which the old breeders seem to suggest is a result of hormonal expression.

There is no male only line, this will produce regs and I learnt something from old breeders who were in their own amazing at what they did.

I hope others can agree.

We dont know cuz we know we dont want to. it's not a wise thing to do. The pheno is too sensitive to regular growing, so all offspring will be too. We don't want those genetics in our gene pool.
Kill it, dont name it, dont look it in the eyes, just kill it and forget it ever existed.

Yeah, it would require taking the offspring and breeding it back in to a female to see what qualities it imbues.
That is a lot of work but it can be done. It might even be radical and innovative.

In my mind making a cross of Fem X Fem is a jump start. It can be a short-cut to a cross when bred to a regular male.
Male on Male needs to be reintroduced to the female to see any changes.
So Am I against this avenue? No I am not however, to see changes in produce we have to have produce. Male on Male isn't produce although it may well be a Short-Cut in the same way to crossing genetics.

So yes, perhaps it's a jump start on a great strain but it adds an extra step of breeding back to the regular population or at least a feminized before we see the result and sample any produce.

and What packs are you popping where you need to pop 5 to get a male? lol Most of us that grow find that we dont even get 50/50 f m ratio in a pack

Your not a breeder so what does it matter? your the average grower who dont have the space to even hunt for superior females to clone and keep let alone a superior male for a breeding program so just stop pretending.

I was just interested in the outcome but found the answer from old breeders who reported that only reg seed would come from a selfed male.
