making bubble hash with 'a bucket (and a mop?)'

You should do some research in hash making. I'd suggest starting with some Frenchie Cannoli tutorials. You can find them on you tube.
i looked him up ahead of this. i don't think it changes anything. just did the trim from two more plants, but got about 1/3 the yield as the prior strain. wasnt' even worth doing for a couple grams of hash. maybe edibles are the way to go on this stuff

i love my 5 kg portable washing machine. frenchy is a good source for info for sure. the most impt thing i learned is that it's the cold not the agitation

I use an RV washing machine and all mesh bags.
The secret is being GENTLE!!!

Try using three buckets. Cut one so it’s basically just the rim and a few inches of bucket, the next one cut in half and the last one just cut a few drain holes in.
This will keep the bags from touching and make the whole task easier and cleaner while collecting.

If your plants aren't ripe you won't make good bubble hash. Better to get some dry ice a screen and a clean surface and make hash that way dry sift style. Your yield would improve but your quality won't.
Bubble hash is separating ripe heads. If you don't have ripe heads you won't get yield. Exp goes a long way. Good luck

plants were great. i cut to smoke buds. this trim washing is just messing around. i did another run yesterday. i didn't agitate as much. i got 35% of what i got on the prior wash. 2 grams from 3 hours of work is not good. this hash was blonder/pinker. the wash color was amber until the second or third wash.

can't say gentle yields would be worth the effort. the stuff i got from the firs trim was just fine. it's strong and full of resin/trychs.

a little off put by the yield difference between teh purple punch and the bananasapphire. the banana is much frostier and more potent bud to give such a low yield.

The yield difference is largely strain and trichome dependent as different strains produce different size trichome heads and different texture as well some are gooey and full melt some are sandy and grainy

That’s why some strains have the best hash out of the run in the 90u screen and some strains it is in the 73u and I’ve even had my best from one heavy indica hybrid strain was 120u

Keep making bubble in the future and as you go you’ll get the balance of being gentle and re washing materials to get a better yield

I love using the camping washer or washers they sell for hash as they are gentle and allow you to focus on the collection and not stirring til you’re sore the next day

That’s my experience though and you may have different results with different methods and strains as starting material

Frenchy Cannoli was a hash legend RIP and I’ll never forget the advice he gave me in person at the Emerald Cup years ago

He told me to start pressing small amounts of hash by hand to get the feel and appearance down then to try the glass bottle with hot water inside to press the hash in turkey bags for larger amounts to decarb and activate the resin heads it was hard to understand bud heavy French accent over the blasting rap music in the venue but I still use those techniques he mentioned every time I make a good batch

I used to follow bc bubbleman and his technique but I prefer the tech Frenchy used and popularized

while there is all sort of error in my process, if you want some confirmation bias i had heard that foxtailing genetics give better hash yields. well, the purple punch grew on a foxtail basis (genes as I have seen many foxtailed pics of purple punch or was just very light senstive). the banana did not foxtail at all, it loved light, 60rh and 78f.
