This is a 150 watt Hydrofarm Hps enclosed fixture. Can I change only the ballast and the bulb to make it a 400 watt hps Hydrofarm fixture? Is all I have to do is buy a new ballast and switch it with the 150 ballast??:?:

just as long as the bulb wattage matches the ballast your golden. you CANNOT run a 400w bulb on a 150w ballast and vice versa. it dont work that way (which it looks like you already know)

Rysam, I think you miss understood the question...din'e, the only reason that I could think of that not working is the size of the 400w bulb and the size of the 400w ballast/coil. Im not certain but I would think that it is substantially larger. I dont know about the Hydrofarm, but I have the Sunsystem 150w and its a pretty tight fitted lantern really not much room to expand.

My hydro farm looks as if it can be upgraded. My 400 watt HPS fits inside the fixture but i dont know about the 400 watt ballast. It doesnt seem that big to not fit inside the 150 ballast compartment.
