Lookin to learn about nutrients

Hey folks I’m doing some research on how growers approach nutrient feeding & tracking. I want to hear about peoples experiences using synthetic nutrients, how they handle deficiencies and whether they use EC meters/think they are necessary to use. I know I could Google everything, but I’m looking for anecdotal experiences. If you’re interested and want to talk about how you approach it, feel free to reply to this thread or message me on discord SmartPonics#7997. Appreciate it. Looking forward to hearing from yall!

There are a whole lot of threads on RIU covering this. Just read the forums.

EC meters - they can certainly help, but aren't necessary. If you're using RO water, then EC meters serve even less of a purpose. IMHO, due to "hot" fertilizing schedules from the manufactures and a bazillion amendments that claim to do everything under the sun, deficiencies are rare and usually we're dealing with lockout/toxicity issues. For deficiencies I generally foliar spray, but I live in a dry climate and obviously I don't foliar spray buds.

In my experience, a lot of the base nutrient brands I've used never really caused any deficiencies (apart from a bad batch of h&g a & b once) . There were deficiencies in the uptake caused by other problems such as lockout or pH. Trying to rectify problems can also lead to a lot of toxicities if wrongly diagnosed.
Anyway in future I'm moving to powdered only nutrients like they do in all professional green houses.

EC meters are a must. Knowing your runoff EC determines your feed EC at times. And pros measure their runoff EC all the damn time.

Don't take my word on it, other experiences may differ.
