hahaha, RIU would lose ALOT of members. there should be a way to say hey this guy is giving bad advice and if the votes get too hig then give him a title like "Superior Grower of Mold"
i LOVE that. nothing is worse than a guy with a full rep bar giving out horrid advice to unsuspecting noobs. even if there wasn't a title to go along with it, it could be useful to keep stats anyway. imagine clicking on someone's profile and there is a section that tracks all the posts he made that were voted bogus and what section they were in. maybe someone is a real grow god but has a nasty reputation for things said in the politics section, for example. he could appear to have a bad reputation but still give solid grow advice.

and on that note, why is the "top areas of posting" tab blank on everyone's profile?

yeah problem is no matter what they do to try and "fix" things as long as the general public have rights on giving/taking rep then its going to be abused. just like if you spread rep around to randoms just to rep that same person again, people will spread dis rep around to people that dont deserve it just because they are irritated with one guy.

personally what i think is the forum moderators should be the ones to give rep and thats it, give the cizilians the like button and let the mods distribute reputation.

ha ha fuck that , just cause someone has mod status dosent make them gods , ive bin on this forum longer than most mods not to mention in the growing game , mods do a great job of modderating the forum , i dont think there the ones who are qualified to say who is giving out good or bad advise just because they moderate the forum .
and you think mods dont have there friends etc on the foirum who would probally recieve more rep than another person ? its like saying just because some guy happens to work as a copper hes never going to do anything bent .
dont allways trust authority

I give out reputation when I see people being generally helpful. But so do members too, there's not enough mods to spread the love around.

Plus, if it comes down to soil, or anything other than ebb/flow/hydro, I'm not sure who to rep because I dont know who is right or wrong. Thats your jobs. :)

Sure, it was just a general statement. I was just saying that unless the reputation is moderated then it will be abused. I guess you guys are 100% right, moderators cant do it all and it would ultimatly be unfair that way.

either way i still want my like button back :)

I miss it too. Like ANC said: 'It allowed me to like pictures or videos or wat-not and save the rep-spreadin' for truly helpful posts.'

At first I just thought firefox wasn't working properly and assumed the like button would re-appear when firefox was displaying the page right. Then I run across this thread and have since figured it out.

But anyway, maybe it'll be back, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

If admin has hung onto most of our old Likes this long, why can't they keep'm? cn
if it is doable without comprimising anything then im sure they will but from what i understand they need to develop a whole new code for the Like button so if the old likes arent compatible or it is comprimising to put them back into play i guess it dosent matter to me. all im sayin :)

How hard can it be to export a table with number of likes and username, and import this as starting numbers for the new system. With any new members defaulting to 0.

are you following me :)

i say everytime we "like" a post we should reply "like" :leaf:

the amount of people that do this will surely cause more "resources" used and maybe we can get it back.

I have a few suggestions but would rather not put them out there because i dont know how this site operates, but this site does get alot of traffic and from what i read is doing fairly decent financially. if they want to stop losing people to other sites they really should step it up, but hey thats just my opinion.

Hey now there's an idea! Why not make it a pain in the ass for the site owners to run this site... then when they get sick of providing a decent place for FREE for us to exchange ideas and seek knowledge... they can push the "delete forum now" button and we can all find some other place to be...

Sorry dude... that may have been a bit much on the sarcasm scale, I'm not meaning to pick on you specifically ... but I used to be a "super administrator" on another site (BIG site) and I gotta tell ya, it's not easy to keep these things rolling smoothly. For the record.. I voted that they bring back the "like" but we gotta keep in mind that we are not the owners of this site... sure it wouldn't exist without all of us... but we don't pay the bills every month.
