Light upgrade day!

Had to return a Photontek 300 with far red diodes, due to a busted holding nut on the ballast.
So figured a month in, why not upgrade since I have a 4x4, and the price difference isn't that bad.

So just got the 465 pro from Photontek.
https://photontek-lighting.com/led/x-465w-pro-led/

Will my plants miss the far red? Only time will tell.
I'm sure they will love the ug.

I had the 300pro 22" away at 100% full blast and they were really loving the light.
What should I start the 456 at when it's lights on time?
I was thinking 75% and 30"?

First time grower.
Autos, sugar diesel from ancestral farms here in BC. (I know I shouldn't of started with autos, but I love a challenge)
18/6 lights.
Promix GG mix

Suggestion always welcomed

Congrats on new toy ….

Just be cautious of mashing the pedal on them as LED light is rather harsh on some plants. Judge plant response over power setting.
You will find by having more pedal to play with doesn’t mean you will ever need it. You can balance height / dimming power over canopy to find your preferred level.

So maybe start lower at 50, just using the non calibrated Photon app on my phone atm, and watching plants reaction to Around 500-550 ppfd.
Sucks the controller only goes in 25% increments.
Future purchase when budget allows... That and some sort of humidity and temp control...thats driving me bonkers atm.
Will definitely keep up to date..pics coming.
Lights on in 20bmin.

If autos more light time the better but less ppfd meaning more time on but less strength. I would suggest running before seeing buds at lowest dim % and never go beyond 650-800 ppfd max even mid-end flower , if no ppfd meter use ur phone and there’s a nice phone app and it’s free. key isn’t exact ppfd it’s knowing the graph of increase/decrease based on how close ur light is, key is u want a medium to height cause closer u are less canopy ur doing ( depends on led/ligjt design )

look at autos in nature , they grow in Russia where more light in day like Alaska . With any pheno/genetic I def suggest like the light dim to use light feeding and watching plants response . Exp for the light dim % watch it daily and it’s not instant damage, key is watching every 12-24hrs and using ur meter

i also know a auto is better to have less up-potting and don’t top or only 1-2 vs photo plant it’s dependent on pheno.

ppfd/light meter for phone, key is read instructions cause for example u need to put a piece of paper over ur camera to filter it correctly. It’s easy once u get it going.

Giggity! Instant smile from ear to ear!
Can't wait to be patient and see what the new sun will bring!
Getting around 550=600 atm at 75% at 26" away... Checking em every hr or so.
West Coast so still hrs to go before I crash for the night.

Can u believe these seeds came from our gov't dispensary for a very cheap price... Not sure if I can mention prices in here.
Thanks everyone

make sure to measure on the canopy level

At that stage have em at 350-500 ppfd, if it was me since it’s low ceiling /strips led’s I would have ti at closest suggested height and lowest dim setting. most dim at starting 25-30%, once seeing flower raise above 500ppfd and see how they react. Key is having that 20-24hr whole cycle .if it was me try that and see what ppfd is at lowest and suggested canopy distance. Every 5-14 days raise the led’s % and once flower have it at that 600-800 ppfd . its always better to do less than to much

Kk, dropped it down to 50%, getting low 400.
To hot here for 24/0...running 20/4 now with the light change.
It's 35c here, 2 ac pumping the apt, fan pointed in the took at inlet vent...
Inside tent temp is 28, humidity around 45......cant get it higher ffs.... Need an ultrasonic cool mist I guess

for future if no a/c, run from fall-spring vs all year around . no diss but in future I would use photo/regular cannabis plants for the pro’s of u can get same small/quick harvest based on growing a vigorous veg strain and than flip 3-5 weeks in veg ( shoot some flip right at germ-firdt few weeks). If it’s 8-11 weeks flower . That extra amount vs autos but only using 12/12 is a huge pro but also u can keep a clone of the plant and even not I have tried many diff versions of autos and never once I saw it as better than non auto tbh.

just saying, use winter/colder air as a allie and run non auto and u could do 12/12 will save ya or at least same electric but plants have more potential and higher yeilds

if other rooms aren’t as hot, bring in air from outdoors or indoors ur house if cool. being if used 12/12 if photo u could run at night only

are u adding co2? If above 80f/27c ( on canopy u need co2, Also at that rh is so low ur vpd is way off. Higher temps equals need higher rh

vpd

Update: started at 50% for a day, gave 56oz each of water and fish shit. Just happens to work perfectly atm just a bit of run off.
Turned it up to 75% last night and they are loving it.
Wish I could get more lights to the sites, but the fan leaves are in the way.
I believe I'm at the, be patient. Water properly and let it do its thing stage.
Can anyone chime in?
I've been trying to keep the lower leaves off the soil... Moving it away... Should I clip them?
Thanks in advance.
The therapeutic effects of growing are helping me more than I would of ever thought.

watch em everyday , measure height from led’s so they are in suggested distance. do u have a way to monitor the temps/humidity on ur canopy?

biggest mistake for many growers is over feeding and over watering them. Like I stated above auto’s don’t need as much light strength but more time per day on the light the better.

10 days in on the new light... They are loving it.
Question on light intensity.
I found this chart on my light.
Is it only going to reach the buds on the canopy?
Looks like I've only have 10 inches to play with.
Any suggestions are always welcome and appreciated.
As a first time grower, I'm trying to research as I go.
Whatever I'm doing I think it's working well for being about a month since breaking soil

Too much light too soon and pots look dry. Plants wilting from too high light intensities/no water in 5 min
If vegging, by the chart you provided the light should be 59" away to start. Is there no dimmer?
OK, thank you.
Full water
Yes it has a dimmer, 25% increments.
I was under the impression that they had started to flower being autos and a month in..... (I know. Big noob mistake)
So when I got the light I was 24" away @ 75% and they were happy.....
Thinking they were in flower I put it up to 100% and have lowered it every couple of days and now 12" away....
Should I continue at this or back it off?
Thanks again
