Light question

Currently started a box grow with a sun system large reflector. I am running a 400watt MH that is air cooled with a 4" fan. My questions are:
  1. Would there be a problem with cutting a hole directly opposite of the mh bulb and running a 70 hps, making two bulbs in the hood?
  2. Would it even help that much?
  3. How high off the plant should I run a 470watt setup like that?
Thanks for any info. -R.Green

Would they run off the same ballast? That would be a problem.

Don't think it would be worth the hassle.

Air cooled with a 4 inch fan? If the hood is air cooled it will have a piece of glass that keeps the heat from the bulb inside. Is that what you mean? And that you use a 4 inch fan to draw the heat via the ducting?

It shouldn't be a problem, but I don't think that it's worth the effort. That 400w lamp is already lighting that reflector well, and adding another 70w lamp won't improve the light much. You'd be better off putting the 70w in a small reflector and using it as side lighting.
