Light HPS help

i gotta get new lights, if i get a 150w HPS bulb, is that strong enough for 3 plants?
can any HPS Fixture hold any bulb? like can i put a 400w in any HPS fixture?
and if you could post a link to a place that sells them cheap, like $70 or less?

150w hps could support 1-2 plants max i'm sure. As its only 15,00 lumens you cannot get a big enough foot print to support 3 plants without sacrificing 3/4 lumens. To your other question you CAN NOT use any bulb with any ballast, Some ballast of a higher rateing do come with dimmers to switch bulbs to a lower Watt but I doubt anything below 400w would have the dimmer. If you have a 150w ballast get a 150w bulb. Personally though if your trying to get 3+ plants just do yourself a favor & spend another 30-50$ & get a 400w hps.
