Light/heat problem

Hey guys, just a quick one. I've got a problem with my tent, the tempreture below the main plant (around the pots and main stem) is in the mid 20's but between the top of the plant and the lights its hitting around 35'c!! I done the old trick of holding my hand under the light for a couple of minutes and there's hardly any heat coming from them. I have a fan blowing directly between the plants and the lights, but I'm starting to get some light burning of the top leaves, I'm worried its going to cause a bigger problem if left unnatended. I've got 2x250watt hps with two fans, one below and one on top aswell as a 4 inch extractor fan and a 4inch intake. My question is basically if I turn one of my lights off and just run the one for the rest of the cycle (around 3 weeks) or will this just slow down the flowering stage??
Any help would be appreciated.
cheers dudes

My tent is roughly, 1.2 metres width, 1metre depth, and just under 6foot height. My lights are as high as they can go. Because of the phenotypes there are a few tall ones. Do u rekon taking down one of the lights will help or make things worse?

Well turning one light off will slow the plants down, but not nearly as bad as heat stress will. It'll leave you with fluffy stressed buds and you don't want that :( Make sure your ventilation is set up properly, I have two 1000 watters with a 720cfm fan pulling the air through the hoods so fast that the glass doesn't even get hot. The glass on my hoods are cool to the touch in fact, any properly ventilated hoods will make this happen. Do you have a lot of bends in the ducting? This will reduce the fans efficiency. How many cfms does your 4 inch fan have? I had one that was only like 200cfms or something like that and I doubt that's enough for your set up.

I hate to break it to you, but you're gonna have to drop some more cash to make this work. You'll definitely be needing an A/C if your temps are that bad. You know how I said I can touch the glass on my hoods? Well it still gets hot in that room despite that, so I still need to have an A/C in there because where I live the ambient temps can get to 90-100 so all the ventilation in the world won't help me when that happens. You might be lucky with just needing the A/C, but you might have to spring for a more powerful inline fan as well. I think for an A/C unit the rule of thumb is 5000btus per 1000 watter, so with your 500 watt set up a 6000-7000btu window unit would help your room out a lot. Make sure it's powerful enough because if it's not then you'll just end up wasting money on electricity for an A/C that isn't even keeping the room cold! The more btus the better because it'll work less hard so that means less energy/$$$. Get on craigslist and find a window unit, depending on how lucky you get you can find one for 20 bucks. You can get some powerful 10kbtu or more A/Cs for around 100 bucks if you find one on Craigslist. Get on it asap, every minute they spend heat stressed hurts more and more. Good luck my man!

Thanks for that, really informative. The baffling thing about it, is I have a couple of different phenos in there and I've got one that is maybe 5 inches away from the bulb but the leaves look fine. I only have two plants that have the heat damage on the higher leaves. So something strange is going on :-/
