light green seed with a hint of brown?

if that came from this years harvest, it needs a hardening off to get ready for spring. in nature they lay on the ground through the winter, if they don't get that cold period, i have a lot of trouble getting them to pop

That seed looks fine. I'm always having to chop some early, so I have planted lots of white seeds over the years, just to see what they would do. You would be amazed at the number of white seeds that will come up and grow a fine plant. When I cull seeds, if it doesn't pop with a halfway hard squeeze, I just toss it back in the pile.
