Light distance during flower

So I am about to switch to flower with a 2 day dark period to speed up the growth of the hormones produced to induce flowering, but my question is do I let the light get closer than normal during this period ( recommended at 18-20 inches right now)? It’s a 450w viperspectra! All advice and techniques are welcome to be expressed!:bigjoint:

Just switch the time to 12/12 two days of darkness isn’t going to help that much to be worth it. the best thing is to use a par meter to adjust the light to the height you need to get maximum par for flower. Without one simply watch and make sure there’s no adverse effects from having the light at whatever height it’s at.

I got a HLG 600 Rspec in flower and in veg i used Philizon 900w (175 actuall watt)
And when i switched the light i got fox tailing like a Mother....

Use a LUX meter to determine the best distance for max yield and this will give more yield than any booster, in flower 30,000 LUX is best for LED and about 50,000 LUX for HPS

I agree partially with budman111, here above. A lux meter helps you get the light intensity right as your plants are able to handle higher intensity (PPFD) as they mature and the photoperiod is reduced to 12 hours.
However, I do not agree with the different light intensities (different lux values) based on lamp type. Plants don't care much about what lamp you use. Plants care about light intensity and climate. As long as you monitor temperature, your plants will want 50k+ lux, regardless if you use LED or HPS.

the reading of your luxmeter is heavily spectrum dependend.
the ppfd of 50k lux Led or HPS wont be the same.
the luxmeter measures mostly in between 500-600nm

HPS 2000K
Result: 648.68 umol/s/m2
3000K high cri
Result: 951.37 umol/s/m2


50000 lux entered.

Put them as close as you can,
Do what you think is right, then slowly raise or lower depending on if you get bleaching or not!

Each light is going to be different, depending on how they're driven, no experience on yours but


My cree 50W cobs are 5-6inches
My LM301 QB's are about 40-50cm
My Lm361 boards are about 3 inches driven at 80w
LM301 Bars at 40-50cm
My J Series strips 30cm

Reason why, is because my canopy is not perfectly flat, and I like to know the lower buds are getting lots of photons

EDIT. I actually have some buds that have grown PAST the LED!
