is his website

if it is that he doesn't know what the fuck.....well we can agree to disagree. first books were the bible then the marijuana grow basics. best books i have found on the subject.

i agree that with a 1000w bulb, a nice expensive one will have high lumens. depending on how you cool that bulb if you can get it close enough you will outshine and outperform a 600w.

kinda...600s are better for proximity allowance....and def for the lumens.....1 high, 1 low, both vertical with screens 12" away or so. put your vent fan directly over the top of the lights, with a fan below blowing up, and you will remove most heat before you have a prob.
msg me if you want/need more help....

everything I learned I learned off the net...

this is the output of my box
#1 - 17oz (great start)
#2 - 15oz (cold weather issues)
#3 - 24oz (Might be on to something)
#4 - 44oz (bullseye)
#5 - coming soon

all same nutes, 8 plants, DWC....blah blah...blah

Thanks, I didn't have an exhaust fan on the ceiling which would explain then why it worked until the plants thickened up. I must have lost enough airflow for semi passive cooling with just a fan on the floor to be enough anymore.

I'm switching to DWC, well maybe RDWC actually they'll be tree bins like "med patient bins" based on one rubbermaid size thing per tree if you're familiar with those. At least I think I'm headed that way haven't bought that stuff just yet. Might need some pointers then, I'll look you up.

What strains on 3 and 4. I would like to get up there. Any good reccomendation high yielding strains? Take a look at my grow in sig, if you have any tips

every strain is different most strains yeils 1.25-2.5 ounces per plant some are 2-4 ounces but co2 lighting and etc all have to do with it... i run 5 1000w in a 8 x 22 shed croping 10 plants a month and getting almost 2 pounds

seems like alot of energy for only 2lbs (almost)

I agree with all that you said tho...

I only preach using a setup to the fullest potential, for the maximum gains....

He's not growing trees obviously, and actually that's a respectable yield.

You have to realize he's talking about just a 5kw garden and you have to think *perpetual*.

It's giving 2lbs per month every month which equals something like a ~6lb harvest per cycle if it were just harvested all at once. There's room for improvement but it's not bad.

He could actually double that but it requires you to shuffle plants back and forth ea day running your lights 24/7 and that's not something you're going to do with a bunch of little plants. Or he could add more bulbs and flip flops to his ballasts to make it equal 10k running two rooms on alternating cycles.

Or he could veg longer...

This is my first grow and I'm using a 400W light in my closet grow for 3 plants at the moment. Hoping to get ATLEAST 3 ounces from each then flip it. :P
Currently growing purple kush.

should have added that, I like to keep the number of plants down as well. Would you prefer to get hit with 8 plants, or 30. My balls have shrunk with age. So I prefer not to push extreme limits with the feds.

Currently growing purple kush.
i started out with a 400 watt light. it took 3 runs to dial everything in on a diy aero unit. i had diy co2 and grow box. endless sky is my favorite strain because with everything dialed in i was getting just over a pound every crop in a 3'x3'. easy to grow sea of green. i didnt get these yields with any other nutes than advanced hydro's 4 part sensi formula and big bud.

endless sky was finishing in like 48-50 days average, it isn't too tall, it has one main cola. i grew alot of plants in 3" net pots (48 total) and if you can be home every twelve hours set up a 3x6" closet. put a black out curtain between the two 3x3' halves, have your 400 one one side with the black out curtain up so the other side is dark. every twelve hours move your 400 to the other side. it's like having two 400's. 2 lbs every cycle

hope this helps.

Very nice!!! I am with ya on the A.N. Big Bud....I actually start with Bud Blood, then Big Bud, then finish with Ionic Boost.....I use Ionic grow/Bloom, Sweet, Voodoo Juice, and a dash of superthrive as well...Only my 5th go at it....What a blast!!!

Keep up the good work and research everyone!

As i started to read this thread i though i would make it the whole way through without hearing any discussion on the merits of vertical growing. i was soon proven wrong because it looks like vertical has been discussed.

I really cant stress how much i believe that if its is bigger yield you are looking for then you have to at least consider growing vertically. True, its not as simple as just turning your bulb sideways and trashing your reflector. You do have to dial your room in before you can achieve the ridiculous yields that alot of growers are seeing, but once dialed in you will be glad that you stopped to consider this idea.

Think about how many cycles we all had to go through to get our flat gardens dialed in... But once dialed in we were happy as hell with our results. ITs the same process with vertical and no different.

So if its increased yield we are talking about then i feel like vertical should be on your mind too.

here is a copy of a sweet grow that is a good guide to go off of. This is the first round of a former flat grower who it going to definitly hit the mark for greatly increasing his yields in previous flat setups of his.

http://www.verticalgreen.org/showthread.php?t=488

the rest of the site is also cool. There is pretty much everything you wanted to know about vertical on here.

2 x 400w in wardrobe. 3 Affy clones vegged for 6 weeks in 50 litre pots and flowered for 9-10 weeks.
9oz, 11oz, and 9oz.

Here is the top bud from one of them....

Yield really does come down to space, efficiency and grow skills rather than nutrients and lumens although they are a factor in any good grow.

A skilled SCROG grower could get similar results with one plant in the same space grown in a 95 litre pot or 4 plants in the same area in 30litre pots.

I grow trees just because I love the look of them. But then I have a big wardrobe and headroom to spare.

If I had a smaller space I would teach myself the SCROG technique and do it that way. It really is about growing in the space provided.
