For anyone doubting the blackstars I pulled about 2 ounces off of one plant in a 1 gallon container dry weight. So they definitely get the job done ! also I got about 4 others under there still I have 2 240w blackstars and a 300w chinese panel not too bad .....

lol a friend of mine has bean using 2 90w ufos for veg on lke 6 small plants. and i mean like clone to 10" tall maybe.... i can outgrow by double with one 4' t8 and it covers waaaaaay more area thana ufo..... we take clones like maybe an inch vtall and no bigger around than a party cup or i cut the fan leaves back. small clones root faster. takes him 2-3 weeks veg time... i can have mine under the hps for a week by the time his just outgrow the box..... its silly. but heythey do grow and i give credit were credit is due. i have seen it produce a nice plant time and time again so......

hey i am on my seconds grow my first i was using shitty 200 watt cfls that just suck so i went to wal mart and bought 2 led bulbs they are not super bright but holyyyy they are growing my plants so fast as seedlings they were constantly fanning toward the light and now my plants are only 18 days old and now that they have 4 or 5 sets of leaves they are growing soo fast sereiously evreyday i wake up and they are growing straight into the light the only down fall is that you need the light very close to get this to happen like right up to the plant (ill post pics tonight) and when you put it that close it will grow so fast that it always ends up growing right into the light i am using 1 3.5 wat led bright white bulb for each plant and they are growing faster then my outdoor plants (the outdoor ones also have a 1 month headstart ) i will post pics tonight but this has made me a lot more interested in contuniing my grow ( i only have 2 plants) personal use , becuse evreyday there is so much new growth its just fun to see the plant diffrent evreyday the bulbs are made by lights of america and cost 16 bucks after tax ill post pics tonight happy growing

I actually believe that...Flower is another story, but I have spent many hours at lowes looking at the LED flood lights with the same thought you had

Has anybody heard of the Solaro Sun Clone? It's $1300 bucks and only uses 140w and 140 degree lenses. There is an impressive grow over at thc farmer using these lights strictly for flower. The panel uses Osram LEDs and have a strange configuration. They use 60 red 20 blue and a single 20w white in the center. It has a limmited 10 year warranty and I think your going to see alot more of these in the near future. One light was able to cover a 6x6 area being hung around 6 feet from plants. Very intriguing...

A 140 degree lens?
None of the light is being focused anywhere with that wide of an lens angle.
I checked out their website, looks like somebody made it in about half an hour.
They offer a 10 year warranty but I doubt they'll be around in 10 months to honor it, don't believe everything that you read.
I have a hard time believing that 140W's are (adequately) covering a 6x6 grow area.
Maybe they have some bitchin' new technology up their sleeve, but from what I read on their site, it seems more like wool being readied to be pulled over our collective eyes.

This was my initial reaction too and even posted these sentiments. Pictures are worth a thousand words though. Take a trip over to thc farmers LED forum and a thread titled SSC LED Suggestions.

I looked and those pics were impressive.
I noticed something about those pics though, they're all close ups and never show the whole grow room with the lights hanging.
For all we know they are using an air cooled HPS and just turning on the LED for photo ops.
This turned out to be the case with the Penetrator LED's, until they accidentally posted a pic with the HPS still hanging in the background.
There also seems to be a lot of electrical wiring running along the walls for a grow room using only 140W's of lighting.
140W's covering a 6x6 area means this is the most efficient electric light mankind has ever produced and I'm having a hard time believing that.

I stand corrected, the Sun Clone uses 170 degree lenses  How can that light penetrate? It does use Osram semiconductors, but I will wait to see a full cycle grow as there is a switch for veg and flower. That user over there at thc farmer is also pushing that light like a salesman. For $1300 bucks it better perform.

Regarding the Sun Clone Product,

http://ledlight.osram-os.com/applications/horticultural-led-lighting/horticultural-lighting-products/

This is the link to Osram's horticultural product LED website. (The DIE/Chip that Improved LED uses in their $1300, and smaller system) Within that link you can find where it clearly states that they CAN BE driven at a max of 2 watts per Die/Chip. Good, but not $1300 worth of revolutionary. Osram has hit very close to the peak absorption wavelength of chlorophyll in a test tube, which is excellent. The Golden Dragon LED does appear to be a very robust and well-made platform; unfortunately our first introduction to them comes from a company that describes them as basically magic. Although, Improved LED’s claim is no different than ANY of the other LED horticultural light maker’s claims. Will the Sun Clone product grow, i'm certain that it will, but it's not magic, and is likely no better than the accepted current kings of the LED hill.

On a related, but different subject….the sun clone product claims 140 watts of true power consumption. For those interested in yield, the sun clone will yield 140 watts worth of buds, regardless of how tall one plant is, or how many plants are placed under the light. Lens angle matters too, as directing the light where we want it is the second most important benefit of using LED’s, very, very close to the benefit of targeted wavelengths.
A while back there was a discussion regarding Watts...it was being stated that watts do not matter, wavelengths do. They are both of paramount importance to our plants. The right wavelength, being driven with ENOUGH watts is what we need.

http://www.seabird.com/application_notes/AN11General.htm

I'm no physicist, but the above links references the relationship between Einsteins (the amount of actual usable photons of light coming out of the LED per second), and wavelength. As watts are a unit of energy (1W=1 Joule per Second) and Joules are part of the formula to find Einsteins (E = hc / λ) contained within the "h" of that formula, one can surmise that we REQUIRE Watts to get the actual photons that our plants can absorb…and convert to vegetative and flower (BUD!!!) growth. This relationship is what is being used by the LED advertisers to make claims like 80% more efficient than HPS. I don’t care how the light compares to an HPS, or a MH or even my lighter that I use to spark my pipe. I care how many photons of light it actually sends in the direction of my plants leaf.

If anybody out there can help to better explain the information presented in the two lower links we will truly have the right information from which to grow with LED. I’m sure my interpretation of the math is off, but I firmly believe in the relationship between Watts, Wavelength of light and Plant growth. Not the advertising claim of “equal to 1000W HPS” which is nothing but advertising.

Prost,

Spacebuds

Thanks for shedding some light on the Sun Clone Space Buds. I went back to thc farmer to dig a little deeper. The user SSC is the only one boasting claims with this light. Hmmm.. SSC initials broken down= Solaro Sun Clone.

I've seen some woman called Lisa telling people on various other threads about this Solaro stuff, I looked at the website and it smacked of low quality...

[Old Kitchen Cupboard - Modified]

Hi everyone :) Whilst in between grows with my HID cab.. I have been hard at work on a sub-project.. An LED inspired project :) :) :) Basically my wife was nagging that I had to many random spare grow parts/components laying around the house and I needed to get rid of them in order to restore peace.. So I thought rather than throwing everything or giving it all away. I decided to Mod my old (1st ever) cab from about 6 years ago :) and turn it into an LED Mini DWC Cab and sell it to a mate.

Well the project is nearly complete and this is my latest pic! What do y'all think? Its complete and ready to go.. How much would you sell it for?

I'll leave a LINK to my HID thread.. (The LED project - is in the last 3 pages or so). Please enjoy and leave me any comments, surgestions etc etc anyway here's the LINK:

(The LED Project starts 7 posts down.)

Hope you enjoy reading/viewing as much as I have enjoyed fixing my old cab up - STELTHY :leaf:

Hey everybody who is using LEDs out there. Lets join up and start chattin about this and that. Figuring crap out. Seeing what works for you, but not me, etc. etc.

It would be much appreciated if only people who USE CURRENTLY leds for mostly full grows, or vegetative grows using only LEDs.

HID users, we already know you are better than us, and your buds are bigger than ours. But there is a first time for everything, and a new beginning at ever end of something old.

ALSO IF YOU ARE AN LED SALESMAN TRYING TO SELL YOUR PRODUCT THIS IS NOT THE THREAD FOR YOU! STAY AWAY! IF YOU ARE AFFILIATED WITH A COMPANY AND HAVE BIAS FEEDBACK WITHOUT RESULTS. STAY AWAY!

Thank you all, and I hope this thread EXPLODES in growth...

LED USERS UNITE!

If you think HID is still always better for flower than HID then you have no right speaking on anyone's behalf in here thanks. Don't come in here and pander to the HID fanboys by talking crap about LED in an LED thread when you are coming in here to ask us about LED. LED can flower better than MH/HPS watt for watt if you get a good panel from a good company. Also you said you only wanted talk from LED growers, so you saying they won't flower as well as HID makes you a hypocrite as you state you have no experience with LED.

That said, most any LED will veg but only the good ones will flower.
