Depending on their rating i would have to say yes. But it's the fans that will more than likely be the problem(fail). I would like to think i might never have to buy anything that would have to do with lighting for 7.5 to 10 years. Thats just happy thinking. By then plasma lighting will be the past. Now that is another awesome thing about LED's.
Even when they've dimmed too much for flowering purposes (after several years), they more or less become veg lights.
So the 1080W of LED I'm running now in my bloom room, will eventually become a 1080W veg area.
I can't even imagine what I'd be running for flowering in such a far off future, but I have plenty of time to decide.

I wish there was more info on LED units available to the market. Anyone have any suggestions on manufaturers, models etc?

everyone gonna tell ya to use what they been using even me but so far ecogroled has everyone beat in service i had plant problems and they saved my baby and kept me on track to almost a gram per watt theyve got their online contact ifo at the bottom of the page and theyre up till like 2am cali time to deal with international and late-night problems they also have stuff to show that proves they know their stuff their research shed is badass and im jealous i want a setup like that

I have been looking at the Spectra LED 450 2011 model from growledhydro.com, its been proven to work by documented grows. Unfortunately they refuse to disclose the exact nanometers of light. They do boast using 9 differn't colors in their LED array and 12 seperate isolated wavelengths.

There is a local company that produces LED units, but I cant find much history of use with these units.

300 1 Watt 350 mA LEDs, Red (620-630 nm), Blue (460-470 nm) and Orange (600-615 nm). AC 110V/230V±10%V, 7000 lm, 50,000 hr lifetime.

the growledhydro Spectra lights are getting run through a light lab, we will have much more info on their light output in a month its been said. I think its been kept a secret for awhile because they believed they had found the best wavelengths for cannabis and wanted to keep it a trade secret for awhile. I think that is changing once the results from the lab get back. And the new ones you speak of have not been long enough to finish any grows. There might be just a couple with the newest 2011 models but they wouldn't have had much time if any for veg. All the journals were done with older models that have not the better output of these even newer models. You can expect even better results with the new lights than the ones used in most journals.

Where should I be looking for the results of this test? I plan on purchasing two units in 1.5 months

if what i read and understand (or not) theres only 6 peaks and only 4 of those apply to earth plants while the others apply to sea plants maybe the grow light guy knows i keep telling him to come here and talk but he says its too late because marketing and big numbers already tainted people

i know he says red and blue are the only needed colors and that anything else is a bonus but not really needed but he said that regular trees and hardwoods need green light for proper bark

Side thought, Why isnt there a LED section on this site with some stickys and such. Come on rollitup obviously LED is worthy at least.

Check out irish boys LED. Pretty impressive. To take things to a even higher level look at the chameleon plasma/led lights. Hate on LED thats fine look at plaama and you can have another target. Funny how NASA uses LED to grow food in space....isnt it?,,,

nasa aint growing anything in space all their tests are ground based they aint got the budget to get their ass in space thanks to idiots in high places

Yeah they did utilize this technology in space along with areoponics utilizing atomization for obvious reasons.
