this has been gone over please dont bring this argument back up your wrong and im going to leave it at that. Please read back and see all arguments if you dont believe me.
i dont believe you because my dad does electrical work for a living and he says this is pure bs either it draws 240w or it doesn't thermodynamics laws of physics say youre wrong too

thats nice i dont care if your dad is an electrician my friend is an electrician and he knows how these work. Maybe your dad is a little behind the times guy. Do some research its not bs.

The ratings are made from max LED output. Lights are dialed back for longer life. If the LEDs are burnt at max output, they don't last near as long.

Sorry but Ill have to back kaptain kron on this one.....Blackstars kick ass....Just making sure you have enough lighting, the heat difference puts the led's over the edge in my opinion
Im not saying that either one are better, im asking for some evidence of his grows cus if the LED's are better than ill use them for my grows aswell, so maybe u could come up with some evidence aswell seing though u no so much about them??

Have a look at SwiftGrow's journal, or ChronicDoom's, or several others. Just search around, there's plenty of evidence.

Just checked out ur grow man looks good but are u referring to CFL's as LED's?? Cus after seing ur grow using CFL's im confused are u saying thats a LED grow or wat?? and yes please post some pics of that blackstar light in action, if i like it ill be buying one first thing, also man wats the price for one of those light setups?? and how do u get the different spectrums for veg and flower??

Lots of LED users throw in some CFLs for 2 reasons. First they can give a little extra light to areas not quite ideally covered by the main light source. The second reason is warmth. Led panels put off so little heat that in some grow environments you need the supplemental heating to stay avoid temps going too low.

Kush your latest pics are impressive. The new blackstar not only induced a vigorous rebloom but it is nice and frosty. Rock on.

yeah posting pics isnt a problem when you have a partner that isnt scared stiff all the time of them.... Sorry no can do on the pics your just gonna have to take my word and look at these other guys grows i dont lie. There may be a few pics still up in my journal from VERY early on. Its not a theory man its a fact im sorry if you dont believe me without pics i can understand that. But i stand behind what i said and anyone who picks one of these up will see what i am talking about

Wow really, it makes a 400w HPS look like a toy?? now even if your LED did have better results i dont think they would be that big of a difference to say 'it makes the 400w HPS look like a toy'.... So how about some pics to back your theory?? And whats your current set up? If what you claim is true than id be crazy to use my HID's instead of LED's, but like i said thats if your claims are true and to no that we will need some evidence and as it sounds like you have a current grow of each lighting system, posting some pics shouldnt be any problem.

I do hope however that your claims are correct cus i would love to give these lights a try.

I was using cfl's but i began having heat issues during flowering so i switched to led's. I too was very skeptical of led's but after a week all my worrying was pushed aside by some big buds.

I paid $260 for my blackstar 240watt and the flowering model light which I have is also good for veg but i may just use cfl's.

Time for a weekly update on my LED grow. This week the plants just exploded. Will need to flip within the week. Pics are from this morning and are exactly 5 weeks from beginning germination. 90% of the stems are thicker than a pencil. Most plants are at node 7 or 8. Branching is impressive considering I have done no topping or other training. I intended to but the rapid growth this week will force me to manage my plants more in bloom. Heres a few pics.

hi all...quick question...my old hid plans are thrown out the window and im ready to buy led's right now...which would work best for the plants entire life cycle...1 blue for veg and 1 red for flower or 1 purple for both veg/flower...ty

im talking about the kessil 150's btw...no extra lights added

Same lights they are under now. May add two 100W blackstar flowering lights if there is even a hint of poor bud development. The one 300 W LED panel is almost all red and proved itself on my last grow. That combined with the two 240 watt vegg/clone blackstars which are nearly 50% red should do the job and then some.

Even with the commercial standard of MH for vegg and HPS for flower some growers have different regimens. Some of the most successful top shelf growers have used MH along with HPS in flower to get denser more potent buds than HPS produces alone. Obviously that is less efficient but in some growers opinions gives the extra few % thc, terpine development and bud density to command top dollar. I am trying to create the LED equivalent with the mix of lights I am using.

It will be obvious by week 3 or 4 if more red is needed to get an acceptable yield. If that happens I will give the extra photons.
