just started my first indoor grow with a 126w penetrator light from hydrogrowled check it out link is in my sig just started today and it will be pure led grow no cfl or anything

Good luck, I've liked what mine has done. It was my first LED purchase and the panel that made me an LED believer. You'll do well with it for a first grow as long as you don't try to push the coverage. If all you are using is the penetrator, for sure stick to the lower side of the height recommendations. 9" for veg 6" for flower. Did you pick it up a new unit? Last time I checked with them they had a refurbished unit for $400 with a 2 year warranty instead of a 3 year on their new units for $470-475.

I've been testing different units to see how they perform against each other. This is my second round of comparisons. I've been using HSS and the penetrator for some time with success. I have a perpetual harvest set up. I originally was looking to do an all KEssil test run from clone to flower but all my problems with defective units f@*cked that up. So now I'm looking to test just flower with 2 magenta kessils at $240-300 a piece against the ISIS-fx1 at $399. I'm testing what does better for $ spent rather than wattage. Once Blackstar is back in stock and at my door I will compare the $300 blackstar 240 with 1 purple kessil. I believe that's a fair test based on cost. After that I may pit the winner of my Kessil vs ISIS test against Spectra, or Spectra against blackstar. That's getting ahead of myself, but I did a tray full of clones the other day and have plenty of ladies in different veg stages to work with, so yeah a spectra test is on the horizon. Honesty looking at everything it wouldn't be until at least April or May. The kessil vs ISIS flower power test will begin in a week or 2 with 6 cotton candy kush raised from clone together. The blackstar vs kessil test will begin in closer to 6 weeks on some silver haze or pineapple chunk. Haven't decided yet. Do you work for Spectra?? If so get me a deal on a unit and I will test it against any of the units I've mentioned in the same price range.
I wish I worked for GLH but sadly no, I had to pay a lot of money for my Spectra. I believe anyone who mentions they are buying a Spectra because of all the Irishboy threads over at 420mag.com gets a discount.

And all you cats talking about warranties, growledhydro Spectras come with a 5 year!

Led's are great! got the 300w which they say replaces the 1000w hps. iv been using them for around 6 months. Buds are big. 90w (ufo) are good for lowryders or small 1-4 plant growers. Only thing that you will have to do is find a heat source for your ladies.

they use 1 watt leds at a 120* viewing angle... not exactly top quality for the prices they charge, which is still not all that cheap

3rd gen 90W UFO: 45 2W chips, no UV, no IR, Bridgelux at 60 degree angles only. Claiming 10-15 square meters of coverage.

Thanks for spamming.
I'm a little worried for you now because either each of those 2w LEDs is running pretty close to full power which is very bad for their health, or the fans are wasting tons of electricity or they are misleading about the wattage of the light

aliengrow is full of bullshit yo checked the site first they say "optimiazed spectrum red orange blue uv" then not a couple of ticks down say "No infrared rays or ultraviolet radiation that can stunt plant growth"

they act like a motherfucker cant read

One side by side comparison I'd love to see would be a spectra 120(180W actual power draw) vs. A 357 Magnum(190W Actual power draw)

Yeah and the 90W model has a 10-15 square meter foot print...

90 watts - 10-15 sq meters (108-162 sq ft)...wrong wrong wrong

visit the site where even there it states 9-25 sq ft fm a single 90 watt light

I call BS on all of these figures since there is NFW that an LED fixture mounted 24-36" away from your work is going to distribute light up beyond, at best 1-2 meters of PAR usable light.

well its been a week now testing the par 38's from led wholesalers.com and i am definitely less than impressed w/ them i figured @8 consumed watts a piece they seemed 2 good 2b true. i have two of them over a 15 inch x 20 inch stinkbud veg. system or a 18 gallon roughneck tote for those of you not familiar. vs 6- 28 watt t'5s over two s/b veg. systems(or 218 gallon totes) the one w/ the par 38's is very lit up however my girls under the t5's are almost double the growth of the par 38's. i am not sure how you could be so happy/w them 660nm. anyone else have any luck w/these? either way i pulled em out and stuck all my little girls back under my t5's and pulled my 5-9 inchers and put them under my new blackstar 240 veg(just arrived 2day)=) i am seriously liking the penetration of this fixture, coverage of this light is about what i expected, and it appears to cover one s/b veg. tote pretty well. i have it around one foot off the canopy and have very little shaded areas. we'll see how the next week goes =-)

Joe - I've been intrigued by the "PAR" LEDs available for general lighting but after doing some research I think it's a different PAR.
Photosynthetically Active Radiation (the kind we want in grow lighting) vs Parabolic Aluminized Reflector, which appears to be what the PAR38, PAR20 etc LED lamps sold for general illumination are designated as. The latter appears to be RGB diodes.

yup, the diodes themselves are totally different than the blackstar each one on the par 38 look like individual tiny circuit boards where the blackstar has led's that look like i have seen in other fixtures. this is my first attempt w/leds so i guess i dont really know but the par 38's definitely didn't look like i expected or perform like i would expect for as bright as they are i know leds cannot be judged for their intensity by looking at them. im just talking about penetration and shading ,they did very well at that. so it makes total sense that they are emitting a different type of light that is not as usable for photosythesis.(similar to trying to use a halogen bulb for growing) while my girls remained very green and did grow a little their growth was, was very stretched, leaf deformation and all in all less overall growth vs. the low output t5's. i could see how maybe the par 38's might be good for clones, since clones don't require that intense of a light. so you could possibly cover an entire 18 gallon aerocloner w/just one par 38,@ only 8 watts of consumed energy, which would be awesome however i am concerned that this differance in light could stunt or worse make my babies go hermi.it would be nice if 660nm would chime back in here he claims to have had some success w/them,and under his advice i bought them. i figure down the line i will try a test of the par 38's vs a compact flourescent for clones only however right now i only have one stinkbud aerocloner and i need every gd. lady i can get.
btw,if you guys have never used stinkbuds aerocloner you are missing out. this thing is the shit.
i will keep u posted
joe
