I have this one for the seed/clone level of my veg tent and it does the trick. Nothing to scoff at if the price is right and the purpose is proper.

Mine is on a 4x1 ft shelf, I would go with 2 for that space. They are not very powerful but they had the best lumens-per-dollar out of what's available at the big hardware stores.

It's more about lumens than wattage. A more efficient light will create the same light with less power, therefore less wattage wasted to heat. I don't know why these light threads get so hostile.
For instance: These all put out the same 1600 lumens. But at different wattages.
100 watt incandescent
23 watt fluorescent
16 watt LED

You're right. There's nothing that beats these. I mean nothing. Everyone gear up with shop lights. Excellent footprint.

I specifically referred to a $15 42w LED shop light, one which I also pointed out has dismal efficiency. I'm not a shop light evangelist but for starting seeds they work fine.

Too bad you can't dim them though. I have a few of the 3000k 100's. They didn't have Rspec when I ordered them. But I've got a bunch of other HLG's too. I have some 288 rspec's and they're great though.
But there's some really cheap lights on the Best Deals thread that look decent. I couldn't help it and ordered a couple of these $41 100 bar lights, but haven't tried them yet. I know it's not HLG quality, but I figured WTF, I'd get a couple for the hell of it since I had $ on my Paypal account and they were so cheap.

If you're talking about the ones with the green plastic.. it's been my favorite 100w light so far. Having the bars swivel really gets that light to spread

LED Shop lights usually don't put off much PAR (photosynthetically active radiation) so you're not going to get the necessary light to your plants using them. Stick to grow lights designed to put off a light spectrum for plants.

I have the sunblaster t5ho led conversion bulbs. You can use them just like the fluro bulbs.

Between 6 months and 1.5 years. I still have two of them, I recently re-cloned the third one because I trimmed it back too much and it was getting too asymmetrical. Other than that no signs of slowing down, just gotta keep on top of feeding and trimming.

Well I beg to differ, the LUXX Clone LED weren't even able to barely get my cuttings to pop roots, I ended up going back to T5 Fluorescent. I had a few clones literally flower under the LUXX Clone LED strips even with them only 6 inches away from the plants on a rack. They re-vegged and did some funky growing looking like they were topped..
I don't know why with all the products that are out there that are reputable and tested people would still try to find alternatives and complicate everything.

I saw that response coming. Yeah HPS and CMH work great but this is almost 2022 he's talking about LED shop lights not HID lights. We're well out of the 1900s now. Plants don't just like "brightness" they need spectrum. HID Naturally produce a wide spectrum whereas LED requires multiple specific chips to actually produce the spectrum, that and distancing from the plants is important.
If you can't afford a grow light then you shouldn't even waste your time or electricity growing.
