cfl makes for better picture anyway... your plants are so nice and healthy, one can tell they are grown under LEDs.

Keep up the good work buddy

My plants have been growing as I had thought they would with the two panels on either side. The leaves seem slightly confused as to which way to turn on some of the plants but the growth has been explosive in terms of bushiness.

Not to say that I will win this competition. But I was told by a few that using panels in this configuration will not grow solid plants. But from what I can see, at least this far along. I've grown stout little bushes that have huge potential.

I'm loving them, slight nute burn but nothing I can't work through. Noticed some mag def so I bought me some water and they seem to be perking up a bit.

Remember it's not about the quickest to grow and harvest, it's the most weight. Though Puff is giving us something to shoot for and I am jealous as hell. I can see what I need to do to try and beat that. Puff that is one heck of a plant and I'd be proud to display it.

Thanks and yeah it's not a race (damn), we'll see how fat she gets in the next few 3-4 weeks or so. and honestly, I really have no clue what I'm doing here with the party cup anyway so I'm surprised it's coming along so easily for me. Looking forward to see how everyone else's is doing.

I'm excited for you, as I want to see how fat she gets. What really amazes me is how she is bud from bottom to top, which suggest you have one hell of a light that is penetrating.

WEEK 7

Budding let the fun begin

I just gave a little Nitrogen boost to the unhealthy White Rhino. For the first time in a while, tonight I won't be watering/feeding the seed from the Cash Crop Ken's mix. I love her. But I wanna let her dry one night. Tomorrow morning I will give her that same little N boost the WR got before she starts to fade as well, then teas for both for a while.

Woohoo

Jeez puff, get the girls off the peds! lol. What a monster. Good job. You're going to set the pace.

And wtf is up with everyone's girls showing pistils and other than my big balled boys my girls are just stretching? Had I vegged these girls normally and flipped the lights I'd probably be further along than I am now. Weird. Let's hope longer time to bloom means a bigger yield. :-P

End, Since you seem to know more about 12/12 then most of us I'll ask you... What is the average time it takes for a 12/12 from seed to show pistils? What was the longest you ever waited?

Currently I got a runt going (bad seed) I wasnt going to keep it but since I had 2 males out of 2 in one container I decided to transplant it, The thing is probably as old as the partycups but its about 2 '' high and its pretty lame. So this plant will be the slowest ever to show sex for me. But like I said its a bad seed. I would say usually when they get transplanted early around 35-40 days from dry seed. Dunno what to say amax are you sure your timer is on 12/12 and not like 12.30/11.30 or something.

One of my 2 party cups isnt doing really well, its weird coze I fed them the same shit!! anyway I will do my best!! This is the hardest part now I think, trying to keep em healthy while feeding them enough to bud big but not too much to burn them.

Amaximus you are not alone with your plant not showing pistols yet. My Pineapple and Mystery seed haven't either, but then not to worried yet as I want them to bush. My other bag seed that I took out of the competion are under CFL's 12/12 and haven't shown signs of flowering. This is truely a learning process as I see different strains have acted or grown differently under the 12/12, my guess to some is that they are better suited for it than others.

Yeah, Timer is set to 12/12. 1AM to 1PM. All my tents are in my bedroom and I know when they click on and click off as most of the time I'm there when it happens. I also just redid my tents (as I'm sure you know) and I checked everything out. No light leaks, Great airflow, timers work.

I'm just trying to get a feel for why mine are taking so long to bloom. That damn Super Haze grew another 2 inches overnight and I had to raise my lights. It's the only one I didn't train and I'm running out of height! lol. That coupled with having to water these monsters at least once a day and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm gonna be able to keep up with them. heh.

I think strains definitely have something to do with how well they do under 12/12 but my four bagseeds, as far as I know (and I might be wrong), all came from the same batch and the males have shown themselves but the girls haven't. So, I'm perplexed!

Hell, I even harvested one of my males already for pollen! lol.

Keep in mind that the plants in party cups are in 16 oz only!! that is why I said when I transplant them early it takes 35-40 days, but I think that the struggle the plants are going through in such small containers stress them and slow their growth quite a bit. Just look at Amax's plant that was transplanted into a bigger container, it exploded right away I wouldnt be surprise if it shows sex before the ones still in the cups.

how do you harvest pollen that way? ive always been interested in collecting pollen but all the ways i have seem are inconvienient for me

I harvested some just recently, I did not wait for my Males to fully bloom, simply took the balls that opened first and popped them into a jar. I pollinated three buds using a q-tip and the seeded bud is actually kind of beautiful, I'll take a picture later.

A little pollen goes a long way, Amax has enough to create millions of seeds there :p. You can simply wait till a male shows sex, cut a clone and flower it in a smaller container when the balls open just grab it and shake them into a jar. The pollen and some of the balls will fall as you can see in Amax's jar.

He's got lot's of balls haha.

Seeded bud, some fat old Calyxes full of seeds. Can't wait to harvest and have these babies out.

My best looking male combined with the sexiest female I had. One note about pollen, just like bud it's got a high moisture content and so it's easy for it to mould.

As I found out when I went to repollinate :p

Just wait until those balls are swollen and ready to burst and then chop'em like you would a female. Mine were so ripe that as I was cutting above a node to trim a few nanners would burst and you'd see a cool little pollen puff in the air before is dissipated. For obvious reasons you should do this far away from your females. lol. I found this thread to be a good read: www.rollitup.org/breeders-paradise/20319-seed-production-tutorial.html

lol! I had no real idea how much to harvest or if I should harvest just the ripe ones or all of them. I decided to just harvest the entire plant. I'll be doing the same as you Psycho. I'll use a small brush to "paint" a few bud sites down below so I can get some localized sites and still have some nice senseimilla.

Nice pictures psycho, If you don't have a journal where your posting updates I'd love if you posted the seeded calyxes in my journal every once and a while. Nice buds shots are easy to come by, Seeded shots, not so much. heh

Also, At what time do you pollinate your girls? I'd like to have mine setup so when the buds are ready to harvest that the seeds are good to go as well...

As soon as the pistols started appearing with increasing number I selected a small shoot about midway up and pollenated it.

The reason for selecting a smaller shoot is that if I had chosen one higher up, the airflow could have pollenated some of my main colas which is not kosher with me ;)

Another is that, seed development does not need an intense amount of light as in reality they simply need to mature rather than flourish in the light.

I would say do it about 3 weeks into flowering. It takes roughly a month in my experience for seeds to mature but much like bud they will let you know when they are ready, the calyxes will split and the seeds will become visible.

Keep in mind, as long as you have white pistols out you can still pollenate and it is always an option to simply leave the shoot on the plant with a few fan leaves until it matures if your plant is finished flowering before the seeds are mature.
