So... I ordered 4x cxb3070s and a meanwell 185 1400, wired em' all up, and stuck them to individual active cpu heatsinks... I fired it up, and 3 of the bulbs were fine, but one started smoking and some of the chips burnt out... I've ordered a couple more, and am wondering if I'm on the right track here? Maybe just a lil too much paste or something? Also wondering if I need to cover these things? If so, with what?

This happened to someone else earlier. I think they used to much paste. I really reccomend gap-pad or graphite squares.

You mean these? If you can blow a cob with the paste then I don't need to fuck with the stuff lol

Oh, dude. I love you, but there's no comparison. 400-600w HPS power for 89w (849 PPFD, 178 PPF @ 14-16") Don't judge the creation by the creator's mistake he created.

Currently, COBs are the most efficient and powerful. I'm pushing trics on 2-3 day seedlings. They are the current apex tech.

Lol man I'm riding the curve wit ya bro.
I either have to find some ideal holders somewhere else or I'll wait for him to restock. I got a line on some good passive sinks from norather lined out but I might go for the heating USA rout and use it as the frame as well. It's for the closet I started with. I got a 4×4 tent and I'm getting this cob setup to grow 1 auto and veg a mother I just started.

Oh, that's chill, man. I'm running 1 Tasty T1-2100, going to get another T1 or T2. The T1 is a CXB3590 3500K 36v run by a Meanwell LPF-90D-42 at 2150mA. I think I'll only need one per medium sized closet plant, mainlined to 32.

It would be cheaper to DIY, but I don't mind helping out a site sponsor. Good small business deserves for what it puts out. I'm really satisfied, so credit's definitely due.

Thanks, @Rahz!

You are NOT "pushing trichs" on seedlings. Those are hairs.
Not sure about the second set, I was just highlighting that those hairs are not typical of any seedling I have grown so far, and are much more obvious than any time before, but!

In the first pic, I swear to God, I had many others identify them as trics. I have a cactus that is pushing huge fucking needles that haven't been there when window grown all bright, hot-ass summer.

Maximize that. You can see those silver, sparkly round dots all over it, all the way up the leaf. Those ARE trichs, not hairs, they do not even look like hairs, on my first set of true leaves in the first pic.

Trichomes can certainly develop on seedlings in the presence of the right amount and spectrum of light. We do it all the time over at RM3's site.

Moving on, I just checked my 3-day-old Colorado Thunder Fuck seedling with a 60-100x scope, and it, too, has both the nonglandular hairs and tiny capitate-sessile resin glands. @Rahz, you should be happy to hear your light's producing stuff like this, just as @RM3 should be proud of his genetics.

You definitely showed me, Smo. I'll give that to you. COBs are superior. Buuuut.. No, my ViparSpectra 450s did yield some nice crop.
