Prototyp-cost at the Moment for me (in Euro)
36 Oslon on Star-PCB :: 108
1 Heatsink :: 40
1 Fan :: 30
3 Bucks :: 55
Electronics :: 20
Alu; etc :: 15
Power-Supply :: 80 (drives 4 Lights)
--------------------
290€

i think the Price range will be the them as the EU-Panel, but with 30% more Power
and the best
Proudly Designed and Made in Europa:hump:

Siily question : Vf is only connected to only one of the drivers ...
But I guess that's enough for obtaining a ref .voltage and supplying rest two bucks ...

Pcb instead of wires ,eh ?

Why not ?
Oooophhhh.........
3rd time ,everything from scratch ...
Guod ,you're killing me ....

recom rcd 48 series driver pinned version.jpg...

But ,what the heck ? ....
No compromises ,there ..
Not in this design ....

..Wait ..I 've to make the pcb also ....

one, is the Master the others are Slaves
the drive-current that Vref can deliever is 5mA
the input-current for the analog-input is 0.2mA
for all 3 we have 0.6mA so no Problem here. more then 5 could be critical and had to be tested!

Ok..I think I got it ....
But it would not matter if all three Vref were connected ,would it ? (in series ) ...

Anyway ...Pcb designing is more tricky ,than I thought ....

But ,I think ,I 'll manage it ....

Yet another outstanding thread you guys have put together, excited to see how this turns out. Waiting on some parts to arrive on a new DIY panel of my own. (nothing close to this)

Seems like it's time for a name change, no? DJ set doesn't apply anymore :eyesmoke:

never connect Vref together, series or parallel! will try to explain it in a next post.

this was an easy one, only one layer(Layer=copper) google for "4 Layer PCB" ... your PC-Motherboard has 6 of them. brainkiller

The PCB i show up is so simple i can make it in the kitchen.
the Raw PCB 100x160mm(Eurocard) cost less then 2€ and is good for 4 of these PCBs.
get me an laserprinter an iron(toner transfer) and something that can etching copper....

drilling the holes for the Bucks. and we can start
Wires and the SMD-Resitor goes directly on the Copperside. the Resistor is 1206 Package, a big one easy to handle.
all can be soldered by hand.

glueing the buck directly on the alu between the XLR and the Pot and solder the wires from the XLR,POT on the PCB...done
will make also a PCB for the Fan-circuit

free PCB.Layout software, some skills are needed

Eagle light
dip trace
to name a few

I would send this mock up (with brand name labels in place) to each of them. Maybe they will cut you a deal (free goods, or deep discount) in exchange for the free advertising

....
Which resistor that might will be ?
For limiting the min current ? At Vref ?

Awesome panel this Guod - SDS team is building......are you using Osram leds throughout due to compatibility/price issues??

just sitting by and watching this unfold which amazes me TBH.......

in this concept we can use cree, osram, etc.
the single led-panel is only limited by the voltage (45V).
maximum current will be 1200mA. so 3 or 5 Watt Leds are possible.

with the Cree XML we can push this beast up to 130W.

Yeap ....
But like the spectral quality of Osram Warm Whites (Oslon SSL Cx7P )...
None other ...
By far ...

Anyway ...
New addiction ....
"pcb designing " ....

Way FUN!!!!!! ...
SERIOUSLY ...
It'a fuckin ' mind blowing thing ,to try design a pcb ...

Way intriguing ..
My first try on Guods schematic for the fan powering circuit ....
My first ever designed pcb in this way ...

(Coooooooolllll!!!!! ) ....
FAN POWER PCB.jpgHARD TO FIT WITH DRIVERS TOGETHER.jpg...(C2 is my addition ...Optional,really —but may
make better transient response & give better output impedance.
1,5 μF of aluminum or tantalum electrolytic- epoxy encapsulated .)

R3 trimmer pad is for Bourns 3252W pot ...
http://www.bourns.com/data/global/pdfs/3252.pdf

C1 fits Wima capacitor ..

(ooopss now i've just noticed a mistake there ....on trimmer ..)

My first ever designed pcb in this way ...

you learn fast...

and it will work, but we have to cool the LM317 so the heatslug of this must be mount on some alu(the alu on the fan-plate)
a 90 degree turn just like this
http://www.vellemanusa.com/images/products/0/k1823.jpgbut
i think i found a better solution for mounting the pcb and the 317 on the fan-plate

C2is not a must, we have a konstant load(fan) here.
