How many Polock's does it take to screw down a cob?

Seriously - looks like they jacked @Rahz 's design
Bars came along time before raz or GM. But just for a little history lesson...

August 30th, 2015(2weeks later) finished the prototype, that was a box, not a long shroud cover heatsink, that he moved to months later...

This is nothing against anyone...nobody ripped off anyone. No one can own the bars design. It's one of the few ways to skin the cat. I have pics posted on RIU from 2014 with 36" 4 cob bars and par readings. Supra was rocking ~24-30" bars before me. The bar started a long time ago.

I know this is technically a "global" forum but it is interesting to see how the similarities are popping up at different places in the world.
Just makes you wonder how many people / companies are getting into the horticultural lighting game

Nice. I had an interest in bars prior to the square prototype. There was a bar prototype before that: https://www.rollitup.org/t/my-latest-creation.880406/ and of course, this was based on work by you as well as others. It was in direct contradiction to my starting place, which was the passive lamps I was building back when nobody was building passive lamps.

I wasn't happy with it and turned my attention to the square design. The current Tasty lamps are based on Growmau5s work. No secret there. I thought they looked sharp which is something I hadn't been able to accomplish with the prototypes. I played around with the various heat sink profiles and even choose the same one Growmau5 did, for likely the same reasons along with the fact that the fins are wide enough to insert rubber wire grommets between them.

The lamps spawned by forum members are still top tier and better value. If there weren't differences I couldn't complain, but there are. I was joking about my loud fans (that aren't that loud) but fan speed is a general comment on the air volume being moved, length a description of surface area per dissipated watt being greater than necessary, and the cobs are under driven, and I still manage to have better prices than these startups. Not this company in particular but it makes me raise an eye every time I see cobs being over driven and the price per watt/par watt is still higher than mine.

I've been a student of this forum for several years with a enthusiast/performance perspective and it shows in my work. That said, my lamps are still evolving and I have been listening. Fan speed will eventually drop and go from from 80 to 75 CFM. They won't be "stealth" fans but they should be quiet enough to satisfy those who have had issues with them while still pushing the amounts of air I require. This has also triggered a redesign for one of the bars. There may be a knob in the future as well, though I don't find them useful myself.

In 2014 I special ordered a BL SPYDR 600 (6 @ 4ft bars) using 85% white leds, the rest a mix of 450 and 620s. The design was great, the execution, not so much, but I had a damn good yield considering it covered only 2 plants, one a tall lanky sat, the other a squat Blueberry Cheesecake.

Been an Amare Technologies user since then. They now offer bars using Cree CoBs.
