holy crap this is long...
Pic is of the two plants i have in my 5x3x7' tall box..
I started three fem AK47 seeds back around April and managed to overwater/kill all but ONE.
It took weeks for the plant to recover and I should have started over, but now the plant has recovered and is a decent size (after 3 months lol). It's been a good learning experience... watering/nutes/LST/temps/humidity/blahblah..
In May I started a few of the feminized freebies I got from attitude... One particular Glueberry OG plant took off and quickly grew to the point where it's almost caught up to the single AK47.
I took 4 or 5 AK47 clones and moved all my other plants outside for the summer (total of 10 outside). frisian dew, holland's hope, and a couple other Attitude fem freebie strains.
I'm at 42 parallel... It's humid as hell in my basement right now. my 5'x3'x7' tall grow box is in a larger 8x6 footprint room.
LIGHTs ON: I'm maintaining 78-80 degrees/65% in the box with an eight T8 fixture.. (260W).
440CFM Fan kicks on whenever temps reach 80... happens frequently.
With lights on I can drop that humidity from 65% to 50% (or less) if I position the dehumidifier near the intake filter of my box so when the fan kicks in it pulls dryer air into the box. The issue is temps push to 83 degrees, in itself not the end of the world..
LIGHTs OFF: something like 72 degress/78% humidity. I can push the humidity down into the 50s, BUT the temps aren't really dropping.
I've read that there should be a differential in temps between day/night, something like 5-10 degrees.
I've got 400W (vs 260W of T of LEDs for the flower phase, which is going to make controlling temps and humidity even more of a challenge.
SO... the big question... I've been babying these plants for a few months now and I really wanted to have a go at flowering them indoors. But does it make sense to try and deal with the temp/humidity issue when I can just toss them outside? These are both 8 week flowering strains, but am worried about mold/early freeze/insects.
Another plus to tossing them outside is that I can get another bunch of plants going in the box which will be ready to flower when the high humidity is pretty much over in the fall.
My other option is to partially air-seal/completely light-seal the 8x6 room and just leave the grow box door off.
This might let me control temps/humidity much more easily.
