Totally different. People leaving a bar at closing can reasonable be assumed to be under the influence. People leaving a grow shop, can only reasonable be assumed to be gardening. The jump from legal gardening to "they might be growing pot" is a huge one. I've been surprised by the number of middle aged and older women I've talked to at the grow store who have tents setup for tomatoes, peppers and herbs. I bet grandma doesn't get a second look when she goes.

Man, i worry about this every time I hit up the shop. I take my grow refuse to a dumpster behind a business a couple blocks over at 1 in the morning out of caution. Literally 1 block away from me, there's a couple floors of a building that are being used to grow legally sanctioned medical bud. Which is great. That's some progress. I just stare out the window at that building contemplating how insane cannabis laws are. Then I close my blinds so no one might catch a glance of me going into a blindingly bright closet.

I'm not a drinker, but I do like to go to the bars and listen to bands play and socialize. Not to mention that my friends that do drink use me as a designated driver.
I've been pulled over a few times when leaving the bars they were watching. Some of the cops were down right friendly and appreciated what I was doing to keep impaired drivers off the roads. Others were like dicks and could not believe I wasn't drinking while in the bars. After around 5 or 6 stops for this, I had enough of it and went to the local chief of police and had a little talk, discussion about how this was bordering on the line of harassment. Since then I haven't been pull over and forced to do a field sobriety test.
Now they just wave as I drive by them on my way out of the bars.

When I was in SOCAL in early 2000 I would barrow a vehicle from someone that didn't grow and I would park 2 to 3 blocks away from the hydro shop or dispensary. I don't know how much of that was needed, but it was common knowledge to do so. Sometimes it would be announced that a dispensary would have fresh clones on og or ic and it was crazy how many people would show up. I never had the nerve to do the clone thing. Now I am in southern Oregon and the grows just litter the country side.
Bottom line is you need to stay safe and listen to your gut feelings or instinct. It is easier to start over than the alternative. Or, just move somewhere that it is fully in the open.

I remember a time when many trailheads and the end of dirt roads were strewn with old grow garbage, rockwool, net pots etc. Disposing of the proof just like the meth cookers would do with their empty Chem containers.

Police staking out hydro store's looking for growers is equivalent to staking out pawn shops looking for stolen shit, a mosque looking for terrorist's, or a church looking for pedophiles. They shouldn't be allowed to use it to investigate people, just like they can't go by electricity usage or FLIR without a warrant.

Anyone remember how they found Michael Vick's dog fighting ring. Police used drug dogs in a dance club parking lot. The dog was walked around the parking lot and hit on a car, when the owner attempted to leave he was stopped. He had 79 grams in his trunk which was enough to get a search warrant and then they found the dogs.

I don't think that should be legal. I think there should be some kind of probable cause needed to have dogs search your car if no crimes were committed prior.

In massachusetts the police are not allowed to stop or search you based on smell alone. It's a step in the right direction. It was an easy excuse for them to bust balls when ever wanted.

this is exactly why i haven't been to my local hydro store lately... and why i decided to let this run be my last. now i'm worried about how to even go about getting rid of my grow supplies without taking an advertisement out that basically screams "hey, i was growing and probably have a harvest" advertisement. what do people do with old grow supplies?

Before my state went legal, it was the owners of the grow stores that were being brought up on conspiracy charges of knowingly supplying marijuana growers with their needed nutrients and lighting.
Now days i can go into the grow store smell marijuana smoke wafting out the backroom, talk openly with the clerk about the dispensary he is growing for and pick up the latest Alaska Leaf magazine.
The state even had to replace all of its marijuana trained sniffing dogs, because a dog can't tell the difference between a legal ounce and an illegal pound.

Sadly even before this thread I'd take precautions going to buy supplies .....obviously driving a car registered to someone else is the biggest diversion I can do ....luckily my brother is willing to help because of the miracles it's done for our sister.....after this thread I'l be taking more measures to avoid taking Leo to my paradise......as long as they kick my brothers door in I'm all good .....we joke about it everytime I use his truck to make loads......he's about 6ft 4 and 280 pounds ....just a big mean mother fucker ....he's a union Rep....so he has the gift of gab .....sometimes I think he wants the visit LOL....funny part is .........I don't trust anybody but family around my gardens ......my trimmers are good friends ....they have no idea where the plants are grown and trim at my ranch ....which is no where near the garden .............my trimmers are a lesbian couple who I've known for years ....they don't ask any questions and are always there when I need em .....having two pretty lesbian chicks around makes trimming a little more enjoyable for some reason........I feed em ,smoke em out, and they get there meds for the year for helping me .....can't trust anybody but family IMO ....there's literally 3 people who know where my garden even is ....all family

The people I see having issues are usually the ones who are greedy with plant count .....or the ones who feel they have to tell everyone they grow to be cool ....it's fun listening to them flap there gums ....especially when they have absolutely no idea I even grow .....I also don't sell my plants either ....all for sick people I help free of charge .....I'm sure that's keeps me under the radar as well ....

Started off smoking pot as a youngster ....helping in my mentors garden as a kid for free weed ....he was actually our top ranch hand on our cattle ranch many years ago ......very long story short ....I have a sister who has cerebral palsy. She was having terrible siezures daily ....She's very smart and you wouldn't really know she was sick by just speaking with her...but the seizures as a kid have effected one side of her body ....she still walks talks and can BS with the best of us IMO......she's the oldest ....so one night I was hot boxing my car and she liked to sit in and listen to music .....after several nights of this .....she realized siezures were very mild if at all ......so I started secretly giving her pot as a young dumb kid LOL.....her seizures went away pretty much completely .....well all was good until mom took her to her doctor and they found thc in normal tests .....my family was church oriented .....I took the heat and admitted giving it to her and why ....my dad was pissed...but my mom seen the value in MMJ .....I got busted for smoking pot myself being so young ......but it was amazing how a devil plant turned into a healing medicine over night .....as I got older and other people like my sis had seen what it did for her .....I started growing for them .....now I grow for people like my sister as well as cancer patients .....I enjoy the hobby and helping these people I consider friends .....as far as having to trust them .....most all the people I help wouldn't even know where to begin to get medicine without me .....besides a club of course....but there not the type that would even know or have connections for let's say a street level dealer ......although I have met a few cancer patients over the years that were paying ridiculous prices for shit weed .....being taken advantage of big time ....pisses me off ......even had a guy selling moldy weed to a handicap gal claiming it was rare white widow ......he got what he deserved .....another example was a cancer patient and single mother who was able to buy a car because she didn't have to buy weed for absurd prices ...(((smh)))......sadly she passed last summer ....which is about the only down side to helping these people ....I lose people I consider friends to illnesses they battle ....so that's why I grow and my motivation for taking the risks I do ......sorry to ramble

the fact we live in a society where this medicine is not readily available is a soap box i could be on for a while but i will refrain and just say you're an awesome brother. life is tough already but add in a chronic illness and the quality of living can be severely affected so it's wonderful to hear your sister responds well to the cannabis
