really work out any bubbles and smooth that mofo out!


Repeat on the opposite side


You let the bag sit flat for 48 hours so the glue can dry/cure and expand. The glued edges will not break loose. PL premium is rank stuff.

This is what you end up with..


Now fold the bag inside out

make the coners touch each other inside the bag






All done!



So cheap to make and easy as can be

If sewing one should use the best synthetic thread possible. Natural threads will break down quickly.

I use gutermann upholstery thread.

I would also recommend the 8oz over the 6oz, though the 6 will work just fine.

Cheap new sewing machines can be had for $100-$200 bucks, and will work good.

I bet I can sew faster than one could glue, and anyone can learn within an hour how to sew as well, its very simple.

Rolls of 15' x 300' of Geotex can be had for around $500 - $600 bucks.


A 6'x2.5' piece of fabric will equate to a 30gal container as one takes into account the inside folded corners reducing the side height.

4500sqft per roll, would yield 300 - 30gal containers, for a savings of over $4000 vs smart pots.

or

3.5sqft of fabric per 5 gallon container will yield 1280 -1285 containers per roll, which is a savings of over $9000 vs buying smart pots

I love DIY. I would also sew rather than glue. I wouldn't / couldn't trust glue only.

got my grandmas old beast of a sewing table. I've made pillow cases and stuffed animals but now I'm really gonna get going on it. idk why i never thought to try making these expensive bastards my self. Thanks slumdog

Seems to be alot of these DIY smart pots coming out... I did something very similar for my outdoor. Mine just didn't have bottoms an were wrapped with chicken wire

The first one I did today came out kind of crappy but, I got it down after that.
I would have attempted to do squares if I did not find that thread.

Love these fabric pots. They work very well with automated drippers, too.

I've thought about it many times, I'll have to give "smart pots" a try. I jumped right in to Superoots Airpots, and I've been happy with them.

They might last for a while but, I am thinking if I was in the smart business, I would have a lot of hate mail!

I made them to put my mothers in eventually. I am building a corrugated steel roof panel table to put them on tomorrow.
I will probably just hand watering I like spending some time with then anyway.

buy a few.. cut them when you transplant and use fishing line to sew them up when done. reusable for many times.

There's $$ in these products... Fed money available if you create jobs. Do it at home and write off part of the mortgage / rent, utilities, etc. Many write-offs.
