I cant except the fact that shes gone yet.
It will hit hard later on i assume, she was 17.
My dog had a good life, except for the last week or more. She wasn't herself and she didn't seem happy anymore.
Its soo hard to watch something you know for soo long just leave you soo quickly.

Sorry about your loss. Your dog is in a better place and not suffering... Grow one out in honor of your dog.

Aww man sorry. I had to do the same last year with the dog I grew up with. Had her for almost 15 years. It was for the best though

I'm sorry for your loss, sir. Dogs can be the sincerest of companions and that is a long time to have been in the company of any good friend. A howl for the two of you, tonight.

It was for the best, its just really hard I had my dog since i was 3.
She was turning 18 this year and i was turning 21 same month.
This was the year where she was legally allowed to drink here and i was in the us.
I've actually known my dog longer then some of my grandparents. You grow very close over the year, just going to have to try and move on.

17 is a great life for any dog. I am sure your dog was thankful for you being a great owner having her for that long. It's hard to put them down but, it's the fair thing to do. I've been through it many times throughout the years and it never gets easier. Wait a while then go get a new one. You'll feel better. My heart goes out to you man.

Lilrich11, you have my condolences. Making such a decision has to be one of the toughest experiences in life.

I had a very similar experience about 10 years ago. Sometimes it just has to be that way. My advice is to wait about a month and then get yourself a new puppy. Again, I am very sorry about your loss.

If she didn't have you she wouldn't have lasted 17 years. For a dog to be able to live 17 years its because they are loved and well taken care of. Any other owner might not have cared for her like you obviously did.

Somehow they worm their way into our hearts and make a home for themselves there. They become just like our kids.

It is a privilege to be loved so intensely by a soul that only wants to please you.

Im sorry for your loss. I had to do it two years ago but Im glad she had someone she knew to hold her and smile at her until she fell asleep.
17 years is a nice long life, you did a good job.

Sorry to hear that. I also had a dog that we put down and she was my best friend. Always there for me, no backstabbing. (Like some people I know)

Aw i'm really sorry about your dog. It's so great that your dog got to stay with you so long though. Most dogs go through so many homes in their lifetime. Your dog probably had the best life it could have hoped for. You obviously loved it very much.
