I had like 600 watts or so of cfl's in there (flower room) for the last couple of months, I turned the 1k watt on i got in the mail yesterday at 50% power and yanked it a few feet above the plants, holy crap! running at about the same wattage as all the cfl's, the glow is spectacular, almost came my pants. the glow from the cracks, is hardcore, even at 50% going to need to do a lot more light sealing, once, i get proper ventilation and ac its going to get kicked up to full power and i easily see how any crack you miss is a effing blow torch to the surrounding area. Cheer's to seeing the difference in how happy my plants get, and due to coverage, i added a few more from veg in there as well. although one is massive and a mystery sex so far, so im going to watch it like a hawk for the next two weeks, it would suck to forget to check, wait too long and bam, the other 6 are pollinated, i would rage most def.

Nice, I am on CFL myself and it's cool to see someone share the experience of the change. Any pics? Can you keep this thread updated for us guys still using CFL?

Ghost FTW too, are you excited about CoD Ghosts? I am hoping it will finally be the first cod that is better than MW2.

Snake,

I am VERY curious of your opinions on the actual level of heat in your grow area compared to running equiv wattage on CFL. I'm generating enough yield with my CFL to satisfy myself. But my current plants are growing taller than anticipated and of course I'm becoming a perfectionist. I'm not worried about the cash outlay and am getting over my fears of ballasts and fires and cops. But I am concerned that I won't be able to control my heat well enough. My tent is 4 x 4 x 6 and I currently run a 4" inline fan (170 CFM) for exhaust. Temps are great right now so long as I keep the room the tent is in cool. But am worried what would happen with HPS.

Well my lights went off an hour ago and don't wanna fuck up the light schedule, so ill put pics of the difference up tomorrow. my space is about 5x5x8-9 so i have a lot of height in the room i can use for these sativas i got growing.

Heat level, mine has a cool tube (with nothing hooked up to it for now), but i only have one intake from outside, small shitty fan, and a box fan inside pushing things around, and the heat is still hot as balls, just like with my cfl's that were way closer, but once i get some ducting and fans for the tube, and run some AC in there the temp should drop like a bomb.

If your planning on going hps, with that tent, i would say either a 600 or a 1000 watt ran at 75% would be more than enough for that area. You'll want to rip some air through that thing though to keep the temps as neutral as possible. if youve got sativas and have a foot of medium, that only leaves you 5 feet, and most sativas would be basically at the damn bulb by the time they were done flowering. Figure a foot of medium, a foot for the hood/light so the plant only has a max of 4 feet to grow. I would advice only indicas that took like 8 weeks flower or so in something like that. The sat's just are huge... if you train the hell out of them and bend them all over, it could work though.

hell yeah for the ghosts! Im wearing a BO2 t shirt right now lol... I got burnt out on bo2 as of lately after i hit master prestige and then did fresh start (was trying to reverse boost, and got bored with it.) lol prob have about 12-13 days of in game time logged though, and my gf still plays on hers, and manages to get me online sometimes. MW2 and BO2 are the only ones ive played, and i def liked MW2 better. The lag comp is horrible in this one... :/

Laugh it is pretty intense light. When I first switched over and turned the light on, I opened my box door and I couldn't help but picture a scene from a movie when the Alien spacecraft lands and the door slides open and some bright ass, unnatural light comes spilling out.
