This is the first puppy in 25 years or so. Have done 4or 5 adult rescues since. I had forgotten the puppy energy and Doxi stubbornness.

He's a handsome little devil ! I grew up with a Dachshund , she was a little love bug with the heart of a lion . She's been gone 40+ years and I can still see her laying sprawled out with her cat buddy in front of a fire in the fireplace .

we got a Basset Hound puppy about 25yrs ago, the wife thought he was sad & came home with a Dachshund rescue, we rescued 4 more over the years since, we are Doxi people for sure.
You need to go get one !! 40yrs is too long.

I had the the little dude in my avatar fall into my lap going on 6 years ago . He's my pride and joy , I honestly wouldn't give him up for a million bucks . He's 98% best boy but I don't think he'd be happy with any competition .
When the time comes I'm gonna find me another senior dog , either another Shih Tzu , a Dachshund or maybe a Chihuahua . I understand the quirks of those breeds best . You never know though , I could end up with anything who needs a place to go .

My little Katzie (PA Dutch slang for "Shortie") was like that . I was 5 when we brought her home and I got to hold her on the car ride . She cried the whole time . She was like that her whole life , hated being in a car .
