Nevertheless, the judge and prosecutor had a tough time actually seating a jury in this case. The Hook interviewed several people who had been cut from the jury pool on the grounds that they disapproved of criminalizing marijuana use:

"I think this whole thing is a waste of time," said Richard Merkel, a psychiatrist and potential juror in today's marijuana possession trial against an Albemarle County man.
Merkel was among five people struck from the first group of 13 - all because they had a problem with this country's criminalization of people using marijuana."

Four US representatives introduced an amendment to the Justice Department appropriations bill, House Resolution 5326, which would bar the agency from spending funds to attack medical marijuana operations in states where it is legal. The bill was being considered Wednesday, before failing on a voice vote Wednesday evening. A roll call vote was taken later, with the amendment failing 163-262 -- 50 Democrats opposed it and 28 Republicans supported it.

Although the Republicans are FAR worse when it comes to the Drug War, the Democrats aren't exactly saints either. Libertarian baby....it's the way to go.

you like accusing people of stuff when you have no evidence don't you? At least he doesn't support a Presidential candidate who gave the impression he was light on MJ laws and then turns around and fucks us hard in the ass. He supported a candidate who openly and specifically wants to end the drug wars and release non violent drug offenders. You support a candidate who laughs at the online audience for taking the issue seriously and openly opposes decriminalization. A president who promotes gun trading with drug cartels. A president who spent more on the drug war than Bush. If anyone was to be a narc it would be a silly liberal Obama supporter that pretends to support legalization of marijuana but votes as if he is against it.
