one more thing ,,,I loved the army..every damn minute dood,,rangerschool was INCREDIBLE , and the aftermath was badass,,,...just don't get shot too many times or they cut you short of your ten year retirement (myself).....gluckk man

The USAF is serious about drug testing. They will kick you out for weed, no problem. They put people in jail for cocaine and ecstasy, especially if they don't like you. First test after the MEPS urine test is about a week into basic training. They make everyone sit in a room, drink a canteen of water, and then you head to the shop. After basic training, it will be random, or if they suspect mass drug use in a unit they will test everyone on a shift or in a certain shop, or whatever. They have something called the Office of Special Investigations and send out undercover agents to bust military drug users and dealers on and around Air Force installations.

I joined the Army out of high school with a buddy in 1969. After basic training I tried to get him to go to medic school with me, but he said no way, I want a safe job "in the rear with the gear". So he became a truck driver.
I ran into him about 9 months in Vietnam at a field hospital. His job consisted of driving a dump truck full of dirt, backwards in front of tank convoys, looking for mines. A dump truck & a private, were much easier to replace than a tank. He was recovering from hitting a mine & had earned his second Purple Heart!
There aren't many safe jobs in the Army

By 1970, medic's were in short supply in Vietnam. So as units were rotated in from the field for down time in the rear, the medics were re-attached to other units & sent back out. I served with 5-6 different companies in Vietnam.
I thought I was going to have it easier when I asked for medic school. But medics served more combat time than any other MOS.

doublejj... my first cousin was a 2 tour medic there. he is now a PA and on his 5 th wife. we go fishing together on his boat named "combat medic" he also is a silver star recipient ...a true hero........................................................................................................................................................................................................................ this salute goes out to you and all the nam vets sir

I was in a similar position a few years ago..
Life going nowhere, the jobs that were available not worth shit.. Even if I took one I'd still be making below the poverty line..
Questioned joining the military, had a few meetings with recruiters, was on the verge of joining the NAVY, but after the meetings, I knew it wasn't for me.. even if I joined and did my job, I knew I wouldn't be improving my life at all. The military is designed to get people to sign years of their life away at the minimal cost available. The lower the better!
IMO, there are better ways to earn money than joining the military.. If you choose to do that, know the consequences. In todays world, you will not be welcomed back as a hero.. You will be viewed as a domestic terrorist trained by the US (ARMY/NAVY/Air Force/Marines?), combat ready..
Given statistics.. I just hope you don't commit suicide first..
