I think I find you are full of shit.
I live in a state with 3 major Army bases, and I can tell you from firsthand knowledge they don't give a fuck. I know one Captain and a few E-1's...they HELP you pass that drug test. So please, shut the fuck up.
one more thing ,,,I loved the army..every damn minute dood,,rangerschool was INCREDIBLE , and the aftermath was badass,,,...just don't get shot too many times or they cut you short of your ten year retirement (myself).....gluckk manDoubleJJ, I remember when everyone was allowed to wear the black beret. That's when the 75 went tan. My brother was pissed that they commisioned the black to everyone. He said in Ranger school they always kept you a little hungry, just to keep you mean.
I joined the Army out of high school with a buddy in 1969. After basic training I tried to get him to go to medic school with me, but he said no way, I want a safe job "in the rear with the gear". So he became a truck driver.21 years 3 months total service time. 4 years active marine corps, 17 as a reservist . back then I wasn't smoking so cant help you there, but it was the best thing I could have done for myself as a 17 year old coming out of high school. the military aint for everybody, and just from your post here on this thread it don't sound like its for you imho. no hate... just saying sir. I had wanted to mention about the buddy program......I joined with a buddy..when we got off the bus at parris island..the drill instructor asked ....who is here on the buddy program? ....wave good bye to your buddy! we were put in different platoons and never had same duty station
I was in a similar position a few years ago..my long time buddy who is tired of being in one spot with a wife and child as well as one on the way decides that he needs something extra or better to get him to that life that he wants instead of working at a cell phone store. he decides he wants to join the military. we both seem to be in the same position only he's employed and im hustling oz bags (once again) to college students i know. i not all for it since im sort of a pacifist and dont condone fighting leaders and governments who could care less about my id let alone my well being. my friends wife thinks i should go with him... scratch that she told me to go with him. are there any pro-leaf soldiers or vets that can give a young buck here some advice?
I joined the Army in 1969 to beat the draft. Other than getting spit on when I came home & a little PTSD, the Army was good for me. I got more positives out of it than negatives. I'm sure it's different today. My son went into the Army after high school, he had a great time...good luck....

Salute' bro..........I have only respect for any who served.......thank you for your service.......USCG Retired here.
As mentioned it has it's ups & downs but overall I wouldn't trade it for another path.
Thank you for your service bro......Respect!.......Nobody has mentioned the Coast Guard. I signed up on my 17th birthday and served 4 years. Like anything military, it has it's ups and downs. But you sleep in a warm bed, they feed you well and you're helping people.
