Jim Lehrer, the retired PBS anchorman who for 36 years gave public television viewers a substantive alternative to network evening news programs with in-depth reporting, interviews and analysis of world and national affairs, died on Thursday at his home in Washington. He was 85.

They presented the news as it should be told, with insightful commentary & never being afraid to ask hard questions of the people in power.
He was one of a kind & will be missed.

You are indeed fortunate in that Judy and the rest of the staff at the Newshour still deliver the same quality of product. The road goes on forever.

There are plenty of good examples out there. True that we lost some good ones recently, though. You need to get out more. The world is different from the one you grew up in in 1950. TVs aren't black and white anymore and tubes are no longer used in them.
