Javadog's Next Adventure

Thanks for the suggestions JD. I must admit the JTR is the one most catching my eye, along with
Space bomb.

I asked you the question over on my thread but I see from reading through your's that you
had some issues cloning the HGK. I also had problems cloning the HGK and this round have
had problems with the OG from RP.

I had thought it was just me and bad luck but maybe there is something there....

Anyways thanks again and peace bro

I just checked the tent...had forgotten that I dropped the first
Golden Crack before I knew it sex. I figured that if it showed
male that I would just toss it.

LOL It is pretty well along:

Like so many of my plants, it needs a bit more love, but it is doing well:

I am out. Take care.

Sounds like your having nice saturday morning. I've been doing about the same, watched some toons with my daughter instead of the news though :). Now I'm off to work. Have a great day JD!

That PK looks sweet. Impressed with the BB gear you've run and what
I have seen in other threads.

Love the nursery shot with all that variety!

Thanks SS. Yes, that lot includes some small Old Timer's Haze
so there is real genetic diversity there.

Thank for the time Hy.

I do not mind work. What I need is something that can run unattended
but for checks in the morning and evening, through the work week. I have
the weekend to refill and such.

Yes, I could try autopots or blumats.

Interesting stuff.

Take care,

JD

with hydro you have to check and adjust the ph and the ppm's several times a day. Depending on the size of the resi and size and number of plants determines how often you change the resi. Back in the day. I had 3 25 gal resi's changing every 3-4 days.

the blumats you can leave unattended. @Greengenes707 uses blumats and he took off to Bali for week or 2. When he got back the garden was fine.

Mmm mmm those look frosty and yummy JD.

lol sorry hyroot but if your checking and adjusting ph multiple times a day your doing something wrong. I typically check and adjust mine about every 2-3 days with great results, and I've left them for 9 days completely unattended with zero issues. I've got 40 plants on a 45 gallon res, and there is no need to change it more then every couple weeks. My PH stays nice and stable and my plants love to drink what I give them.

when you add nutes ph and ppm changes. As the nutes get used up the ph changes and ppm's change. As water gets uptaken . The solution becomes more concentrate, the ph and ppm's change. When you add more water or another solution the ph and ppm's change.

try checking multiple times a day. I bet you don't. You probably only check readings every few days.

when I did hydro I changed my resi's every 3 -4 days because they were empty by then. The plants drank everything up in that time frame. 3 25 gal resi's and 27 plants per resi.

every few days is still too often for JD

I used to check things multiple times a day, then I realized that I didn't have to. With the size of my res things stay very stable. I expect a slight PH swing over the coarse of a day or a few days, its pretty normal and allows proper nutrient absorption across the spectrum. The ppm change slowly in my res over a few days as well. I realize that as the plants drink there are different amounts of nutes left in the system, and that we can't tell how much of what there is. However I don't think it matters if the plants are healthy. I also run all my flower plants on the same res no matter if they are new clones put into flower, or plants that will be harvested that same week. The plants seem to do a very nice job of drinking what they want, and growing great. I also run a bunch of different strains like JD does, and I find that its pretty rare that I have one that doesn't like my room. I would never claim my room is the most dialed in, but my garden and products that come from it speak well enough for themselves.

Anyway theres lots of different ways to reach the same goal. What will work best is up to each of us using them. I stopped using soil because I didn't want to go buy it, haul it, and dispose of it. Sadly I have to operate incognito where I"m at, and its much easier to do that with my hydro system. Both methods grow amazing cannabis though.

I really appreciate your both taking the time.

I like the DIY spirit of Stinkys posts. I think that I want
to try hydro because (and this is the silly part) it is time. LOL

That might color my decision.....but I really do appreciate being
reminded of alternatives. I have thought that something like
autopots or blumats might be one of my solutions.

Take care,

JD
