I'm no expert but I think the H2O2 is just to encourage root production, from my understanding it releases extra oxygen within the soil which the roots like..

I would think that once your seedlings have established you can stop and then start again when re-potting. I just use an additive called Bio Root from General Organics.

Besides your soil, what will you be using for nutrients?

Nice I'm using the exact same line.. I'm assuming that you have nutrients in your FF seed starting soil so you shouldn't need to add nutes anytime soon. (At least I think you said you were using FF seedling soil but I couldn't find any info about that product on their website)

I used nutrient free peat peat so I started adding nutrients right away. I like that line so far. I've been giving them heavy feedings (dosages according to the bottle.. every time since they were established and haven't noticed any signs of nutrient burn as of yet.

That's a great price for a neat little kit IMO. I paid between $25.00-49.00 for each of my 1 litre bottles!!

I'll have to order that for next time.. thanks for the link +rep!

Hello! It's Day 13 & 14, (and 21 for the stressed plant on the far left). Not enough has changed to post new photos, except I have a question. It seems that my sativa dominant Chocolope and Tangerine Dream are stretching(?) I've just read 18 pages of posts on the sticky about replanting stretched seedlings. Think I should try that? Or wait for the transplant to pots when I start vegging? Time to bring the light down? it's set at 400W, 2 feet above. Thanks.

YES! Start over withsome fast flowering easy to grow strains. Use http://en.seedfinder.eu/ to find which strains will be good for your experience level. Growing is a lot more than just planting seeds and feeding them with whatever Joe blow from the hydro store recommends.Those GH box sets are garbage and over priced. Email cutting edge nutrients and they will send you some real Nutes for free. Just go to the grow shop and pick it up.

??? why would he need/want to start over. Also I've seen a lot of decent grows with the GO line, he has it, why not use it?

@shotrocker.. I did some reading about H2O2 and organic based nutrients like you are using.. seems there is no general consensus, however I would advise to KISS and cut out the H2O2.

The majority seems to say that H2O2 will degrade and kill off the bacteria in the soil that you are trying to promote with your GO nutrients. Others seemed to disagree with this but the majority seemed to say no to H2O2.

Also a note: do you have a fan blowing gently on your seedlings? This will promote a hormone release that strengthens your stems.

Subbed lookin nice, i love tents although i sold mine and know use a homemade room because of space issues.

When he pots up the bacteria will be in the new soil:hump:I would not use the h202 because why is it needed? Keep it easy. Peace and happy growing:peace:

Well, that's not going to happen. I'd rather learn from this group I'm working with now, but thanks for the site tip. I probably should have considered easier, less Sativa dominant strains, but I went with the school of thought that suggests you try and grow the weed you like. Among the 4 plants from free seeds are a Wappa and a G13 AK auto, which I'm sure probably are easier. I got the H2O2 suggestion from both books I'm using, (Ed Rosenthal's Marijuana Grower's Handbook and Jorge Cervantes' Marijuana Horticulture), as something they suggested for germination. I guess I misunderstood and kept using it too long, just like I did with the humidity dome. Live and learn has always been my school and I'm also having fun with this so far. Hey, who knows, Nepaljam, maybe I'll even end up with a couple of smokable grams!

Welcome shotrocker to the wonderful world of growing your own. If you are anything like most of us on this site you are hooked for life. I know I was since those first bagseeds I planted in 1974. I found this site a few yrs back and love it.

I'd suggest a 4 or 6 bulb T5 fixture if you are intending to clone and for future seedlings. They grow like mad under them. I can't tell if you are using a heat mat for your seedlings but that helps at that critical stage when they are trying to get established. Your setup is really nice for a first timer.

Believe I'll hang around to watch them grow up. And you better expect more than a few grams with that setup. I need to go check on my brownies...

Thanks so much, slab, I'm glad you're aboard here; you must be so attuned to the nuances of the plant by now. Me, I've tried to kill 'em a few times already. I got very bad advice from a grow store person who had me misting them and keeping them under a dome the first week in order to "maximize humidity". She also told me that sites like this aren't trustworthy. Live and learn, I guess. Next mistake: watering them with water with H2O2 the first 10 or 11 days.

The T5 with a little clone tent are definitely part of my plans.

Please let me know your opinions of what I'm doing, anytime.

Don't listen to the haters telling you to start over, that is an over-reaction if I have ever heard one! So far, so good. Small mistakes but nothing drastic. How else do people learn??? Jeesh...

As far as H202 is concerned: you only use it in the seedling phase, ending when you enter the vegetative stage. This is also the point at which you will transplant, around the time you get 2 or 3 sets of true leaves. This is to prevent damping off and other fungal infections that seedlings are more prone to catching. Once you transplant, your soil will be full of life. This microbeneficial life is what makes soil growing possible. H202 will kill that life, which is why you stop using it.

Also, your plants aren't stretching bad whatsoever. A 400w@2' is plenty of lumens. The only reason to switch to CFL's would be for efficiency as a 400w is a bit overkill at this stage of growth. But, it'll do just fine for now.

Agreed. Looks like a basement to me. I'm just gonna take a guess the floor is collllllllld as can be. Try putting the seedling tray on a stand of sorts, creating an air-gap between it and the floor. This will help tremendously. Heat mats are nice but be careful if you use one as they can also cook your sensitive seedlings if they get a tad too hot. I rarely use mine unless the nursery drops below 65ish, the heat from the lights is usually sufficient.

I have my clones in a separate area in my cold cold Canadian basement and have them on a elevated surface (as suggested by Green Revolution) and I also put this down:

It has an R value of 5 or 8 and you can get it at Home depot for about 30-40 dollars for a 5 x 40 foot roll... has the added benefit of being really reflective.. I lined the whole seedling/clone/veg area with this.. use my tent for flower

Wow. What a difference this site makes. Without you guys, at this stage, I'd be well into a killing spree! I germinated with the heat pad but took it away when things got too hot. My temps are right around 70 now so I'll go put it back. I also moved the light about 6" closer. I have a new problem, however; possibly repercussions from The Great Humidity Dome Fiasco. Pictures and explanation to follow. Thanks again, friends.
