It's a muslim tradition to build a mosque at the site of a great victory.

What i dont get is, we were the most sucessful rich and charitable nation with more important inventions than any other country on history because of our open and democratic begining

I dlnt get why people would vote for a guy who said he wanted to fundementally change it

I mean it was the richest strongest most charitable anf inventive free nation

If you fundmentally change that, what would america be

Poor weak non charitable and uninventive, and unfree

\ By saying we should let them do it because of the 1st Amendment is just un-patriotic.
there have been so many ridiculous quotes throughout this thread that it is difficult to say that your statement takes the cake....but it is way up there.

it is un-patriotic to uphold the first amendment according to you....wow. just wow.

you also should go slap yourself in the face....repeatedly.

I'm not saying take their rights away. I just think there should be better reasons for your argument.

I thought you said you were Arab born and raised?

Still, it's very untactful! By saying we should let them do it because of the 1st Amendment is just un-patriotic. The Patriotic thing to do is be pissed off that they would have the audacity to build where their fellow Muslims attacked the US.
Ya i born in middlemeast lived there till an age between 7-11 in the interest of being vague and then came to america, became a citizen

by telling them to build elsewhere, you are taking their rights away. no need for a better reason, although i have about a million as you might be able to tell

my question to all those who oppose: what is an acceptable perimeter for denying their first amendment rights? 5 blocks? 10 blocks? 10 miles? how far is far enough to satisfy your delicate sensitivities? i expect a concrete, measurable distance as an answer

Didn't want to say if you are Muslim or not? I think anywhere on the other side of the Mosque 9 blocks from ground zero would be fine.

There u go again mischarachterising what the argument is about
with no reference to what i am 'mischarachterising' i have no idea what you are talking about. your words are about as useful as a bag of two spotted spider mites

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution#cite_note-0...also, no mosques within nine blocks of ground zero"

i'm pretty sure that's what the founding fathers had in mind

So, since when has that stopped the gov't. from reaching deeper and encroaching on our liberties?

Still never answered if you are Muslim or not.

an even better question is why the fuck would this even matter unless you are attempting a logical fallacy. why don't you try debating based on the merit of the argument? nevermind, you seem incapable of doing that

you remind me of babs34 when she accused me of being mexican when i got in her face for her blatantly bigoted views on illegal immigration. when all other avenues of argument are exhausted, simpletons almost always resort to genetic fallacy....or give up
