Are you an animal person who wants to end up with some land and a garden and livestock?
We at St John Creamery are looking for folks who love to learn and are willing to exchange sweat and hard work (50+ hrs) for room, board and a $50 stipend per week to learn all about farming.
We are a raw goat milk dairy with 165 goats. We are the biggest raw goat dairy in Western Wa.
We raise pastured poultry for our eggs, we make artisan raw goat cheese seasonally,
we garden in our 50x40 gardens, attempting to organically grow as much of our food as we can, we
have bee hives, we raise Anatolian Shepherd livestock guardian dogs to guard all the poultry and goats.
We are grain free on the herd, which means we take the herd out to browse in the 35 acres
adjacent to our property. We have small cabins for each intern/apprentice with Wi-fi. We have a big
meal at lunch every day - then you make your own breakfast and dinner from the pantry. (we eat our own fresh and artisan aged goat cheese as well as drink hundreds of gallons of this awesome milk)
This isn't a farm where we "chill" and get into nature. We work every holiday (goats need to be milked every day of the year) We are looking for diligent people who do the right thing even when no one is watching. Self motivated, able to keep a great attitude even when overworked and tired and wet and muddy! We want to grow the business this year, and we need folks with drive and good work ethic to make it happen! Looking to pay apprentices a larger stipend as the business grows. If you want to learn farming and be a part of a great team - this is the place to come!
Routine tasks are muck the barns, milk goats, feed all the animals, trim hooves, give shots, shred alfalfa for the milk room, we teach herbal and homeopathic medicine as well as mainstream med on the animals, milk goats, we build, fix and clean up stuff constantly, we make compost, we tractor it onto the pastures, we milk goats, we deliver baby goat, bottle baby goats, sell baby goats, we deliver milk & we milk goats again and again!
Good thing these Oberhaslis are delightful to work with. Everyone has a name and knows it! They are personable and sweet, and their milk is the best milk you will ever taste in your life!!!
We are looking for 1 year apprentices and 3-4 months from interns .We also have volunteer opportunities here - if this all sounds wonderful, but you work in the city and want to get your hands dirty learning about farming! We do need to lift 50 lb bags of feed, the hay is 85-100 lbs- so you need to be fit!

Please don't apply if you get drunk on a regular basis or need pot or drugs to cope with life. This is a clean farm - we will random drug test.

If this sounds good, give me a call at 206-909-5055 and we can chat about farming!

I went through their entire website. No pictures of humans in any of the many sub locales on the site. No pics of interns, apprentices or students in the classes they offer. No pics of the owner. Nothing to identify anyone. Very suspicious. Someone should tip off Homeland Security; goats/ISIS too coincidental

They're feeding everyone to the animals! It's brilliant, they must be saving a fortune...
