Is this Section all about Pushing your Beliefs on others?

atheist here, i agree everyone is entitled to have their own opinion and beliefs.

opinion= statements based on personal judgements.

and just as long as we all can understand and comprehend exactly what beliefs are and where they come from...

beliefs= ideas/thoughts emanating from your imagination (or from someone else) = not true, just thought/idea/imagination

(speaking of only theological and metaphysical beliefs)

actually, evolution is not just merely a theory... it is also a fact. ill let you look that one up yourself, i don't feel like explaining it.

It has been explained before in threads that bk has been involved in. I just suspect he will continue to ignore it. Even before Darwin, people suspected life evolves because that's what the evidence shows. The perfect, nested hierarchy of life can really only be explained by some sort of relatedness, just like a family tree can only be explained that way. It was Darwin's insight of deep geologic time combined with natural selection that is considered theory. Larmackism was another such attempt to explain the observations. Even if Darwin's theory is proved incorrect, it still doesn't automatically erase the fact that life is continually evolving complexity and used to be much simpler. These 'just a theory' people clearly don't understand the science.

i see theory as someones idea now you can correct me if im wrong or get more into detail but thats what it boils down to. last time i checked they havent 100% linked us from apes to us.

and the earth used to be flat and the center of the universe, what s your point, our understandings of the world/universe, quantum physics and quantum mechanics will soon be brought together to forge a more complex understanding to what was understood as working theory yrs ago(string theory)

is this isnt evolution of thought

a clear marker of how we work, we better ourselves to survive(Survival being a questionable influence as our we live long and prosper now) . . . .. ???

that is what we call a hypothesis. theory is an explanation for how things work, backed by evidence and facts. theories can always be disproven if new evidence shows up to disprove it. evolution has been around for a good number of years. nobody has disproved it yet.

read this please

havent linked us to apes?!?! are you fuckin kidding me?!?! where are you checking? lol

Humans ARE apes. What kind of linkage do you think hasn't been demonstrated?

used to be religious... raised lutheran, have grow to strongly dislike religion in a whole... more blood has been shed over religion than any other reason in the history of man. the separation it causes and how pissed someone will get at you for making comments about something they "believe" but don't know... tell a jesus freak that jesus was a necrophiliac and watch how fast they will get pissed at you. same thing goes for politics, put republicans and democrats in a locked room together, and time how long it takes before fists are thrown...

i have my faith and beliefs... anyone who claims to be religious or believe in their religion needs to follow their religion and not "claim" they do... and don't use sin as an excuse... man up to what you truly believe, are you ashamed??

When you speak of theory in a scientific context, which you are when you talk about evolution, it doesn't mean 'someone's idea'. It means the idea has survived rigorous and unrelenting doubt. It is not up to us to educate you on something you should have learned in high school.

last time i checked they havent 100% linked us from apes to us.
Stop pretending that you have EVER checked.

the one where we have brains that are more advanced than theirs and the fact that i dont see many ape/human type things walkin the earth.

an hies i didnt ask anyone to ex
plain shit i know the meanin. and dont tell me what ive done and havent done bro. NEVER have i seen ANYTHING that says we got this way naturally from apes. im not gonna sit here and be ultra specific on what the word theory means just cause you think people should.

You are telling us what you have/havent done when you said

If you think evolution says there should be some half ape half human type things walking around, I am not sure where you are checking...apparently not Google. I would not belittle you for being ignorant of evolutionary theory or for misunderstanding what the word theory means, until you pompously claim that it's just an idea and dismiss your responsibility to vet your criticisms. Your position is basically that since you have not taken the time to learn about evolution, since no one has shown you the evidence, then it's okay to say it's not there. And since you don't feel like being accurate when you use the term 'theory', the rest of us should overlook your mistake. You disguise your inadequacy by pretending that the rest of us are being ridiculously detailed, when we are simply holding you accountable for your words. All of this instead of learning and growing.

Blazinkill504: really your in Nola and you haven't seen people acting like animals? Hahaha.

IM not trying to be mean but you seen to have a very basic and confused view of evolution. We did not come from great apes like a Chimp. Ech of us has a common primate ancestor then basically we split, an d the many pressures and drives like bottle necking have given us the two species. Also we have nearly 99% the same Dna, thats a pretty damning fact supporting evolution. R

Did you miss the post that explains how humans are apes? There are tons of ape/humans walking the earth, we just call them humans for simplicity.

So you have never seen the chain of species that pre-date humans and share many more characteristics with other modern ape species but still walk upright? There are some good books that outline it for you but here's a summary -- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_evolution

Hey, Blaze! I don't have the time to read as much as I'd like to, and there are some fascinating video series that can teach one many things and they don't require much time. Nova has a great three part series entitled, 'Becoming Human', that shows how we evolved from our hairy, knuckle-dragging ancestors replete with detailed evidence from leading experts and really cool CGI. I'd recommend this series, and many other Nova programs, to everyone. Enjoy!

P.S. You do see many ape/human type things walking the Earth. They're called people (we are scientifically classified as great apes) ;)
