There are 3 plants in there but the tip of that one cola yes looks so different than the others. Is that all the same plant / genetics ? Or is that one cola different
So you're saying there's a chance :')With mold there should be the white fluffy stuff at the early stage, then it turns grayish when spores come on.................... very curious
Yup ur right. I snipped that bud and it was rotted inside. Fuck! Should I chop this grow?Ya, the stem probably rotted down below it. Looks like Botrytis to me, the way it died off. Even a dead bug could have infected it and caused the mold.
No sir! Do not panic. Especially if you have caught it early and you dont see this white fluff yet or freakin spores in a gray powder form............. That bud above looks familiar. the bud closes up and inside it gets wet. its best to open it up anyway maybe. but if that is all you see then that is all the damage (so far). Ventilation, air flow and low humidity help........... but those big, fat buds are the ones that get hit first............dead leaves going into the heart of the budYup ur right. I snipped that bud and it was rotted inside. Fuck! Should I chop this grow?
Same here. Thanks!View attachment 5164860
I just had my first case of bud rot. A really nice top bud, too, BUT, as best i can tell it was isolated to just this spot.

I inspected the entire plant as best i could, found no other "discoloration" or signs of rot, so i cut away the top and the rest of the plant is finishing up. Week 8.5. My environment is really clean and I have good airflow with not-too-high RH so I'm unsure exactly how it happened, but it did and I dealt with it. Best of luck man, shit happens BUT it's all in how we handle it, that matters.
I thought some buds were finishing early before I caught the rot. That makes sense. That is what I did under the circumstances. I also saw something interesting or at least it caught my attention:
When the dead spot at the stem under the bud starts producing the fungal roots (mycelium) , the plant responds with more resin glands (trichomes) that quickly turn dark in the heads. This resin engulfs the mycelium in spots and stops its spread or at least slows it down.
These infected buds (or at least some of them) got "gooey" with resin and turned brown when dried in isolation ............but they had about 50% amber and dark trichs.............. I tossed most of them.
But I never saw this buttrot like this - before I started stretching out my chop date and producing these large, fat buds.................. It may be a tradeoff. However, I now want to put an end to it one way or the other..... I dont want it in every freakin grow
