Yeah. Aeroponics should be called pain in the ass lots of shit to break aponics.

If your just mixing and spraying then yeah, hell, 80 would be fine. I'm talking dwc however. I wouldn't say 68 is ideal however. This number is thrown around all the fucking time. Hydro store links, newbs in deep water, etc etc etc. But based on real experience, like experience on a mutha fucking big scale.. I would say the ideal temp is around 65.

Tstick... can I get a little amen on the colder root temps..

I'll give u that .. Amen. And sprayers are not a cure for running high temps as I am battling rot now. Actually things are starting to look better with new roots coming out and yes, temps now at 65 lol.

Just checked the roots on my girls and their actually starting to really grow but that plants have suffered and look like crap lol. I have also added hydroguard as well, Res temps are holding at 64-65 with chiller in place.

72 was water temp but ambient in root chamber was higher (didn't insulate :(.) so I also insulated the top. Still not sure if out of the woods yet but if I can get at least one cloned it's not a complete failure.

Once they start popping new white roots then you should be ok. Hydroguard is good, and if your sprayers can handle say.. 400 micron particulates then I would run a batch or two of beneficial tea. People often don't want to mess with it, and it can be a hassle even though it's actually not that much work, but it really does work wonders.

Budley, you got any pics or the roots as its helpful to see roots survive and gives others a perspective of plants that can veto saved.

Legallyflying, can tea be added just for a week or two then stopped. And does it still work at 65oF.

Yes I will post pics I just keep forgetting the phone when I head to the shed :(. It's to cold to make another trip in my bathrobe lol. The thing is that as all have said temps are critical for consistent success. This is the first time that I've dealt with this and I never want to do it again. I did run tea for a bit but just started running straight beanies. I've got a gallon of hydroguard so should be ok for a bit. And it was $50 for the gallon :). I do have 5 gallons oh H2O2 if anyone wants it lol. Didn't seem to do shit :(.

Did you innoculate with any h2o2 prior to adding the hydroguard? If you add the hydroguard while it's infected, it won't work, or not very well (from my experience). Sounds like you gave it a shot though. Hang onto your h2o2, it's good for sterilizing stuff if needed.

I inoculated with bleach, pool shock, and H2O2 lol. If there was anything alive in there it was a miracle lol. But all that shit didn't seem to really stop it but in truth the Res temps had just been brought under control a week ago, I have some pics on my old phone that I'll try and get and perhaps try and sequentially show the roots. It's kinda embarrassing posting pics of crap lol.

I am going to keep the peroxide, it's getting really hard to buy it here at 35% and will probably be a restricted product soon. I had prices quoted as high as $400 for a 5 gallon pail lol. Found this on kijiji for $120 :). Felt like a terrorist buying it :(.

I think your root problem was initiated by some other factor and perhaps you nute chamber temp at > 72F made it worse.

And this is why I think so------I've run nutes in the mid 70s for years with only base nutes (GH and advanced).

I know you've seen my journal, so I'll spare the methodology explanation.

Is it possible the initial problem could have been brought on by something else other than nute temp?

Thanks Alaric, and yes it was caused by the pathogen entering the system and allowed to flourish with the high temps. I have also read that Pythium and other rot causing things can be anywhere and every where. That's was kind of my point. Would it not be better in any system you run to have water cooling capabilities? Again it's the first time for me and I've ran these setups for 3 years but change the thing to sprayers instead of a flooded root zone. And yup pretty sure it was the high temps in the root chamber more than the water temps that enabled it to ruin the grow.

Yes, of course, it's good practice to have nute cooling capabilities------especially with higher room temps (summer).

I ran without chillers for several years-----simply because I could without issues (or just lucky). However; my best grows were always during the winter (NC and Fl).

Thanks for sharing the pics.

Looking at your roots you can see they have been infected.

I would imagine it was the chamber temps. Did you run any beneficial before the root rot started.?

Yes but not canna specific, now running hydroguard. The one I was running was microbe lift which seemed to work well up till now. I could never find out what was in it.

Did your roots progressively get worse? Or did they grow nicely? Most of those roots look good but there are few that look suspect, hard to tell as it looked to be in the very early stages on page 1, if they were infected. If it didn't get worse it could just been some injured roots from the hydroton shifting around. I'm liking hydroton less as time goes on :p
