Have you ever had roots like mine that have been fine? What bennies do u use.
Ok....cpl things, first you need tk figgure out a way to get your hydroton (expanded clay) out and cleaned up second if you can, get the ones that are coming around moved to a diffrent unit....3rd im going to assume from the looks (could be wrong because of the rot) that you are spraying 25/7? If so have a down time on spraying, the roots will stay wet enough to atleast go to 15 min on 15 min off in an enclosed aero if all you have is a cheap timer and temps are not to high.View attachment 3543929 View attachment 3543930 View attachment 3543931 The last pic is of one that seems to be getting better but it's only one of six. I started three in jiffy pods and three in RW cubes. The JP's seem to be doing better but still it's a day to day thing.
That should just cause your ph to go wonky unless its way out.....i dont like rockwool....i like nothing but the neo pucks for the cloner, hydroton or this new stuff im trying works pretty well and has weight to support the plant, photo attachedAqua flakes. Hydroton was soaked in bleach, system ran for 36 hrs with a cup of bleach. But the rockwool wasn't, just ph'd so that could be where it started.
the roots in the res water with no air stones...i'm petty stone rite now but how can that work just wonderingIt's that the air is not penetrating the middle of the root zone I think. My temps are around 70 and I run sprayers and bennies, this is the first time I've had an issue. I don't run air stones so not sure about the amount. I'm throwing bleach, h2o2 at them right now to try and save them but it's looking rather bleak. I stopped using the bennies and am now running sterile
The natural fall of the top feed will catch AIR as the water drops from the top to the bottom of the rez. thus creating O2 and hence you have oxygenated water.the roots in the res water with no air stones...i'm petty stone rite now

my power went out the other day i freak run a extinction cord from my truck 110 outlet to air pumps
If its an aero setup it will work kinda like the kratky method...the o2 will be taken in by the roots not in the wateethe roots in the res water with no air stones...i'm petty stone rite now

That could be the cause of the problem, if the root zone itself got warm and the res was staying cool that would explain why you had better results with constant spray....it was keeping the roots cool enough to not allow the bad guys to grow.No roots in the res. Roots hang in upper res. I tried both peat pods and RW cubes and the peat pods are actually the ones getting better. I flooded every three hours at first (from seed), and roots were white like my ass which is really white FYI. Until roots are established I tend to water very little as it tends to drown them I find. This is low pressure by the way so watering continuously has worked the last few times but I was cycling it this time and it seemed to get worse. My root zone did get quite warm with out the reflective covering but also now that temps outside are cold I should be able to maintain 65ish. I am going to start a new run but it will be a flooded root zone I think as that has worked well for me.
If you can pull a site on either side or just try putting a white covering ( panda film maybe) on the top to keep the light from heating it up.Ya I think that was what is happening. It's still warmer in there than the ambient and with out running air through the upper I'm not sure how to bring it down. But I really think going back to recirc flooded works better for me. I did find the aero was really stable though. I still use an upper tote but keep water levels at about 5" deep. Never ran that system with beanies so that'll be new.
The other thing i have seen done is use a cheap cooler so your res or root zone is fully insulated, which means when your cool water goes into the root zone it cools the zone and that cooling should hold (hopefully) untill the next schedualed spraying....i cannot verify this works though as i have not tried it yet...i was thinking of trying it for the veggies outside next spring / summer. It's covered with reflective bubble wrap which helpS
Should not, i may be wrong though, those are basically the same thing, beneficials are living organism that produce the enzymes you want, pondzyme is basically just the enzymes. If you was to use bennies in rdwc then added pondzyme would it make the demitrus?
Most likely it was your nute mix staining the roots and they were fine....i would avoid anything made for pools as that is usually super concentrated and very strong....probly do more damage than good and may very well be cause not to use your final product.I see, so demitrus is the destruction of organic material? If I can always keep my Tempsford at. 18oC would running poolshock be a better alternative. As I always end up getting brown roots with the demitrus, even when keeping low temps. I'm starting to think I never had root rot this time or last time, as the plants were growing great and I was always using bennies.
