Is this plant foxtailing/bolting? Should I care?

I have a Dinafem x Critical 1.0 autoflower in an outdoor setting, 5-gallon pot in Northern California.

It's at about 70 days from germination, about 42 days from first flower. Seed bank doesn't list a flowering period for outside, but says indoors should be 60-65 days.

My question is, what's happening now? The plant is foxtailing (what I think other gardeners would call 'bolting,' and that's generally a sign a flowering plant is past its prime.

However, I'm a couple of weeks before the due date, and maybe this is just the "swelling" stage. Most pistils haven't dried up yet, and the trichomes are almost entirely clear or white, with just a very few amber.

If this is the swelling stage, then this plant (notwithstanding being under a foot tall) is going to be a great yielder. What does anyone else think?

I had a plant do that once. In my case I believe it was caused by wild temp fluctuations.
It's been warmish for Northern California, but not unduly. A temperature range of about 65–85°F over the last several weeks. Couple of spikes to 90°F some-odd.

My experience is just anecdotal evidence. My temps were 50f night and 90f day due to poor planning and the bolting happened closest to the lights. No matter what caused it, be genetics or environment, it looks like it will finish and smoke well. Those purple pistils look cool btw.

Yeah. I'm an amateur photographer, too (who isn't?) and so I'm really enjoying the closeups I'm getting — I mean, amethyst pistils?

I may have to buy a new lens to get even closer.
