That is a total of 252 watts. Now, as a rule of thumb, I hear the average minimum watts per plant is 80 watts.
So you'd have 12 watts to spare after the 240 watts for all three plants. I would suggest buying 4 more? That'd be nice.

The way I see it, if he were to get a couple 100 watters, why not just save his money and get a 600 watt HPS for around $240.00

Dont worry about it man, it should be enough light, im using 13 watt fluoresent lights and a 250 led light strip with red and blue leds, works better then I ever thought it would my girls are 83 days old today and barely 2 weeks into flowering and their already producing good quality buds all over, plus im using pura vida organics, bloom, and grow nutes at 1/8th strength and they are miraculous thus far, plus its my first grow man, I didnt think it would near enough light but their doing exponentially well, great top buds and their all female from a gamble on a few seeds out of a bag i had, cant believe that there aren't any males, or hermies lol. Good growin, keep the peace.

Watts per plant dont mean anything,

It's all about LUMENS per square foot and the sun puts out 10,000 psf. You want to try to match that to have a nice harvest IMO.
BTW, you carn't add up lumens, so you take you bulb that puts out the most and that is how many lumes you plants are getting.

peace
