Is that a hermie? Please help

Hello there,

These are grown in a greenhouse. Cuts from a mom from a guy, who is growing the same strain and cuts with no issues. Planted as teenagers in the beginning of March, so they were exposed to some temp fluctuations but nothing extreme, I tired to keep them warm enough. Flipped to flower on May 1st. Now, from last Friday until Sunday weather was very bad, windy ,cloudy and rainy so I could not "open" the black\white tarp , instead I put ON the string lights for the same 12 hour period, so they don't go crazy..which they might have. Maybe that would have caused it? I mostly noticed it on the lower portion of the plants. I still cant say if all of them are like that, but so far quite a few. Take a look at the pics please. Thank you

Yes..indeed. I have been removing the sacs all day long, mostly concentrated on the lower portion of the flowers. I read something about a product called Optic Foliar Switch. Would that help? Has anyone used it successfully ?

What strain is it please ? Also do you know were your friend got the seed from this plant comes from. Could it be the seed was found in weed he got ?

Gelato 41. I want to say that he got it as a clone and raised moms from it. But so far he has a few successful indoor runs with no issues.

When I've done different runs with companies like ilgm/msnl etc...I have always had atleast 1 or so hermie on me in the beginning i deadset would freak out like my grow was over....till i had experience with them as time went by... they usually pop up around week 3/4 , i had one throw like 10+ on almost every stem..i would do the same and pluck em off over the few days as I'd notice more appear...by the end of the week or so i have found she just gives up producing balls and flowers like normal probably hoping to catch some pollen...end of flower some but not all will thrown nanners inside the buds here and there....in the end i have won every single time...sometimes the crop will be completely seedless..or I'll have an average of 1/2 seeds paer plant...glad those days are over tho once i started cloning keepers.

Never used the optic switch, sounds like the old dutch master reverse back in the day....it might work it might not..you might not even need it.

Check to make sure you have zero light leaks....feeding correctly , temps within rsnge the best you can..

it was a guy I knew around 20 years, they are the White Widow strain I grew a lot of the Northern Lights, starting on the Durban Poison

Thank you for sharing that info! I was almost ready to chop them..talking about 220 plants, with the idea to save my other greenhouses from getting pollinated as well . Now that I hear your experience I will do my best to pluck em off , defoliate as much so I can go in and check on them regularly. Hopefully they will go back to being straight females.

Whoa there 220 plants! Yeah that would be dead and out by now if it were mine.

I'll caveat this by saying my eyes aren't as good as they used to be, but what I thought were balls seem to have pistils growing out of them. Have any of the suspect "balls" opened up yet into male flowers? I'm not 100% convinced it's a hermie.

Hell, with that plant count i just couldn't bring myself to chop and start all over again...., if i had the time which i would I'd be plucking ,would get a mister on a hose and just spray underside of each plant if i had less time , that will kill the pollen like every second day or something...and you never know the pollen might not even be viable... end of the day it's totally up to you i just hope you make it to harvest..if they aren't herming that badly, well the outcome wont be that bad either.

On pic 2 with the larger buds i see none..only caylx with pistils which is good

The others are 100% balls in the making.

I sure would if I was looking at putting how many more weeks and money into everything a grow that size consumes and then harvesting seeded plants :-(. But I didn't mean chop all 220. I meant get rid of the one that seemed to have the issue. Now that he's saying maybe every other plant I get his considering use of something like Optic Foliar. I wouldn't/couldn't but damn that's a rough and terribly heartbreaking situation.

Yes, I want to say same pheno. These are the String lights I am using. I put them on when flowers are in Veg to keep up with the 18/6 schedule. Now, when the greenhouse is closed/covered with the black/white tarp it becomes complete dark, so when I put these lights on, whole thing lights up, with a few spots that the light probably isn`t strong enough to get, like the bottom of the plants, but there is definitely light in there. The days I was referring to in my initial posts were super rainy and windy, since I am a one-man show I couldn`t take down the black/white tarp because as soon as the wind grabs it..it takes off. What I did instead was to still keep the 12hr cycle but with the use of these lights, so I went in 7:30am and put them ON, 7:30pm OFF. Unfortunately that was going on for like 3 days, last Friday to Sunday. I noticed the hermie problem on Tuesday/Wednesday even if the light deficiency caused it, I would be impressed by them developing sacks in 48hrs or so... I am almost done defoliating and plucking them OFF , will be sprayning with SWITCH by Optic foliar , keep my fingers crossed and keep checking on them. I just remembered that I have only ONE plant of a different strain in there, just wanted to see how it will turn out..I am about to clean and check it for sacks, it would be interesting if it doesn`t show any stress signs. Here are some more photos. On one of them you see the sack closed, and the rest is after I opened it. You can tell how it was a female calyx part forced to produce a little ball. It was still empty and green when I cut it open, no pollen or dust. Still that is Day 19 in Flower. Thank you all for the comments and opinions, will keep you posted.

Appears as of now they are just swollen calyx’s. I’ve had plants with big calyx that looked like balls at the base of the flower. This is my opinion and no science to back it up but when I see calyx like that my plant usually foxtails. Something to keep an eye on the environment is all.

Could be the stress they were put under with the lighting. You're in the window (week 3) that they are most prone to herm. Typically, if you have a pheno that herms, those cuts are likely to herm as well. It's just in thier DNA.
