Had to go away for a week and left a friend to keep an eye on things.. the plants were so stressed when I came back the new leaves had mutated.. apparently the light timers packed it in, followed by an improper reprogramming of said lights, and he managed to spill 20litres of water over my electronics.. my poor girls
So much for an stress free uninterrupted run goddamn it.

Nothing a few bucks and a little recharge wont fix. It does suck having to trust another to take care of your babies. Nobody looks after our plants like we do. I swear if i dont get some polarised shades soon im gonna have eye trouble from hanging in the growspace lol.

I had one of my oldest and closest friends pass away a few days ago.. very sad, I was with him when he passed away. His daughter asked me around to his house yesterday and said he wanted me to have his stash.. this was a big deal, he is a 58 year old dude from Sonoma County and considered himself a connoisseur.. he had a suitcase of different strains that he had stashed away over the years.. only kept the best of the best so he could revisit them on special occasions.. called it his “Star Wars stash”. So long Johnny boy.. much appreciated. I was so proud when I finally grew something he said was “a solid 10/10”.. meant a lot coming from the fussy old bastard.

So sorry to hear of your loss. My father in law( coincidentally his name was Johnny Smith) just passed from cancer may 12. He was an old hippie who LOVED his weed and cigarettes. He lived in a rest home his last 5 years or so so we would take him out for lunch or whatever and get him stoned. When he could no longer walk or leave i would take edibles i bought. The last time i made him the cannabutter pudding my wife and I eat. I think that was the most he smiled in 5 years. Being a son in law just for him to admit enjoying it was high praise. So thats why you had to leave your plants eh? Yeah i did too. I had to drive back the 200 miles one day just to transplant 3 plants from solo cups that woulda died. Man it sucks getting older and losing everyone around you. Again, condolences. Hey a trick to keep your glasses from fogging, get one of those Rain-X cloths and wipe down your shades and leave them in the grow room. It helps me in the summer when humidity here is 90's 24/7. I did it last year till i fkd up and broke em. Any beans in the stash? That would make a fitting tribute to grow some of your friends faves. Well, gotta get the kid up for school. Last few days. ... take care buddy

Appreciate it C2G. The past few years has been tough. Lots of family and old friends gone. Alot of em younger than me. After my near death car wreck
and the fallout afterwards, ive alot more appreciation for life. I feel for @Mumbeltypeg, it always gives an acute sting losing the old friends. Im really thankful to have made some friends on RIU yall make the days alot better knowing that theres some good folks out there that care. :)

Sorry for yours also mate, and no the trip away was business.. my friend lived close by, I worked with him and saw him nearly every day. No beans on the stash but I think I will chase down a Mendocino strain to grow in his honour.. thanks for the tip on the shades, I’ll give it a try.
And I appreciate you my friend. And the others I have met on here, there are some good people here.

Few snaps from my controlled room.. I am excited as I have found one of the traits I have been hunting for.. one of the plants (pulp friction I believe) has those super fat calyx’s that I have only dreamed of seeing before.. have to make sure I keep those genes going as I would love to keep that for crossing.

Man.. this room is a jungle, have been neglecting this one slightly with all the crap been going on lately. Need to lift my game again.
Also found the dreaded spider mite
Oh crap. Hope they arent too bad? I hate summer growing. I make myself change clothes before i get near the plants this year. I lost about half a harvest last spring. Mine were in full flower and i had to cut my losses 2 weeks early. Good luck .

They are getting there.. I let about 2000 predators loose in there last week and am putting another 2000 plus another species in there next week.. don’t want to use pesticides, other option is to try gassing them with co2 but the info on what ppms are needed range from 10000-20000 and from 2hrs to 24 hrs and I recon I would struggle to keep the levels up that long.

Less than impressed with the new room thus far.. mind you there is always going to be some tweaking with a new room, this one’s no different. The flowers are not filling out any where near as much as my other room.. but I have had temp spikes, ph issues, light timers getting out of whack, drainage problems, floods, humidity going all over the place and no consistent cO2 input…not that that would matter too much with all the other shit being out of kilter.
Anyhow, I think I have got most of the problems sorted so hopefully the next run yield some fuller flowers.

how is everyone else’s gardens growing?

Dude it still looks pretty damned good. You always have a roomfull. Im still working out making my own soil blend. Im so tired of paying $30 for a bag of FFOF Extra gnat blend. I just cut down 2 WW. 1 is actually decent the other will make edibles. The rest are OG and Afghan kush. Those Mephistos are just 40 days old and although smaller, they are frosty and have bigger buds. Tiny yielders but great smoke fast. The Dutch Passion's are big autos. Not as frosty but looks like they will be good yielders. Not as potent but sometimes i need a lighter strain. Glad you beat the mites! I found 1 tip of 1 WW that had PM. It was the sick one. I still pulled my plants and disenfected my space. So far 10 days and no sign.

Yep it’s not always about maximum thc is it?
I have a couple of pulp friction girls in from greenhouse seeds at the moment and the melon smelling turps from it is like nothing I have ever smelled before..cant wait to see what the flavours like.
Had a really nice compliment the other day too, pulled a bag of the blueberry hashplant I grew last run and had a couple of heavy smokers say that my buds were a work of art!! So I rolled em up a joint with a blunt coated in some Rosin I just pressed.. big smiles all round.

I think you have sold me on the mephisto autos CP, I am going to try doing a few outdoors and see how they go.

I just use the old Clakamus Coot soil mix..
But having said that, I am definitely more of a soilless hydro dude..

Couple of snaps while I’m on here I suppose.. chucked a couple of UV lights in today.. see if I get much difference in frost production as advertised. Probably not as I found out to late that these are mostly UVA and not UVB.. but can’t hurt to try I guess
