In need of some help from stealth growers

I have grown before but it has always been a thing where I didn't care if anyone in my house cared. I now live in circumstances where I have to conceal it from everyone else. I have a spot I can put it that would be great but I need some kind of design that doesn't look like a grow tent.

I have been looking on amazon, ebay and googling and it seems to be a lot of the things that would work are sold out or over 1,000. I have a Cannon 320 coming from black sails and that will work for a 3x3 area. If you can help me find something that looks like a cabinet or anything I can light proof and ventilate I would be greatly appreciated.

I don't have a lot of tools or experience but I do know how to grow a plant and if you can help me with the build I would appreciate it. My space is at least 6 feet tall and can be any real length it's just about conceal ability.

the easiest option is to go with a large piece of furniture, like an armoire or a larger cabinet - you can light-proof it without too much effort and exhaust out the concealed side or the back - buy something used off kijiji, it'll look less conspicuous

I have used a mid sized upright freezer which had locking door. Heat control, air exchange and scent control are Not optional here, an inline 4" fan, a dryer hose kit and a decent carbon filter will handle that . Pull your exhaust from near the top, pull fresh air up through grills or dampers on the bottom. Probably need to stay with T5s and or LED light to control heat. Many older freezers had locks on them, if at all possible use the lock. With a cheap or discarded freezer you can put in a new lock if there is no key. If you have it locked, you never have to make someone unsee what they did see. Also had a friend who grew in an empty washing machine! The possibities are endless. Good growing

My box was a chest of drawers, with the drawers gutted for a LONG time.
Light leaks were my only issue.
I proactively moved it to my basement because I didn't want to leak water and destroy the drywall below me. Bear that in mind when growing on the second floor.

I went a year growing inside a cardboard box in my crawlspace.... Only stopped that because spiders.... I hated spending time in my crawlspace with spiders overhead, goosebumps and all.... Gravel on my knees...
^^^the crawlspace has potential, doing a no till scrog would be nifty. I used to push the gravel/dirt aside to get more vertical clearance. I also have a stupid radon fan, and just pipe my grow into the radon system. That fan noise is priceless! Plus my crawlspace is like 600sqft.... I could make my income off the crawlspace if I really jazzed it up with carpet to crawl on etc. Plus wiring would be stupid easy, no drywall or anything.

now I veg in a cardboard box (in storage) and flower in a wardrobe. The veg box is overdue for disposal...

your yield will absolutely suck if you aren't growing from clone, or training aggressively. You should plan on one 1-5 gal pot, and a scrog for a small furniture grow imho.... This is unless you have a mother that doesn't stretch.

You really want *two* boxes... Can a friend or two help you pop seeds and pick a mother?
that can save you MONTHS!!!! When I re-started growing, I bought $200 worth of seeds, and had my friends grow them on the condition they save clones etc. Everybody has a preferred mother now, only took 4 months to grow out 32 seeds that way. We got 3 amazing mothers, and a couple hearty mothers.

go to a few thrift stores etc, or check free stuff on Craigslist.
Refrigerator, projection tv, tower speakers, kegerator, PC tower etc. All are classics. A fake water heater was one of my favorites.

I hid 8-15 plants in veg in my mom's basement, inside a cardboard box for 8+mo. She only found them because she saw one of my ionic air cleaners (I had 3) in the corner, she wanted it in her room. She went to unplug it, and discovered lots of shit plugged in.. Didn't even realize she was standing over my box... She was more upset that I didn't tell her I had more ionic filters.

I'm an adult, I live with mom because stepdad is paralyzed after a stroke and seizures, she doesn't care that I have a micro grow in a decriminalized state. I hide my plants from my nieces and nephews.. Obviously, they have watched "stay out of the basement" on netflix.

Keep your eyes peeled in your local craigslist free section for used cabinets.

Thank you guys for the tips, I will definitely check the thrift stores, craigslist and wherever else I can think of. There is a lot of great information here and I appreciate you guys taking the time to throw it out there for me. I am mainly concerned about smell and the appearance... I might even just be silly cause I know that weed isn't exactly the most expensive thing these days but I really love growing. I lost all my lights, 5k worth of seeds and my tents/trays about 5 years ago and have been itching to get back in slowly. I work 14 hours a day and live on site so that is the reason for concern and I am my own boss so I am not worried about that but what other people don't know will keep me safe.
