If they still haven't popped after 72 hours maybe consider soaking them in water overnight.
You know, I didn't think of it until now but I seem to remember reading somewhere that to test the seeds, put them in water and the ones that still float after X amount of time are good. Or is it the ones that sink? Damn this infernal memory of mine!

What was I talking about again? :)

its all i got and it was cheap i got it dollar tree. well it work???
NO!!nothing would be better than foil. I was told that foil absorbs the light, not reflect it. You can spend 50$ on myler and get 97% of the light reflected, or just use white paint, that refects it 95%. I have always thought white paint was the way to go, but i nvr heard of silver emergency blankets from walmart??? i will definately check that out tho.

i use the mylar its def way more than 2 % better than white walls. the plants are bigger and fuller closer to the mylar

Yah I didn't think about it till I found it on RIU under DaCDaC's grow journal. Those emergency blankets are made of mylar (basically just a sheet of it, its not thick or anything) and work wonders, cheap too. Look at these pics in my grow journal, this is with the mylar emergency sheets -> https://www.rollitup.org/3184780-post25.html

If you look at the first pics on page 1, you can see what it looked like in foil. I can tell you myself I was at 105F w/tinfoil, the mylar itself kept the light brighter and temps lower at around 98F (this was before I installed the A/C). https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/250417-north-central-fl-indoor-grow.html

my first grow i did some shopping @ the dollar tree, bought a few windshield screens to keep the sun out of your car about 2ft by 4 ft or so, made of mylar, and worked great. try to find a hps conversion bulb for your ballast, and use about two thirds of your closet for flowering.

fox farms is not bad.. i used it for a round in some regular potting soil, i don't think you need to buy the whole line up though.. i mainly just used the grow, bloom, tiger and beastie along with some sea tea kelp foliar.. the jacky white plant in my avatar was one of the plants i did with fox farms and the potting soil

I agree with HHGT.

Just don't plant it too deep and don't pack down the dirct covering the seed. I usually make about a 3/8" deep hole with my finger and drop the seed in. Then I just sprinkle (not pack) some dirt on top of it.

I have forgotten about seeds I had germing in the past, and found them several days later with a 6" taproot. As long as they don't dry out it should be fine. But that taproot is delicate, so I try to plant them asap.

I veg under cfl, so I may not be the best person to ask. But 18" from a 175mh should be ok. Just watch for any signs of stress.

Is this under the 1000w or 175w? Like HWC said, you should be fine under the 175w but if your on the 1000w you might want to move it up some. One way is to look for heat stress on the plant, another also is to put you hand on top of the plant, between the plant and the light and see how long you can hold it there. If it starts burning you, you'll want to move it up.

It depends on how much of the water is evaporating under the heat. You definitely don't want to over water. If you haven't already been, check using your finger about an inch or so into the soil to check the moisture. If it feels moist that low don't water. If not, then water.

I've had four (two inside, two outside) seeds in soil for about a week so far and neither have popped. I've had seeds on outside grow take up to two weeks to pop so it could just be a slow starter.

I'd also move that 1000w light up, I don't know a good distance but I'd prob shoot for about 2/2.5ft depending on how hot the top of the soil is. If each time you check in that short of period and the soil is bone dry, chances are the light is too close. 1000w is quite a bit of light, so the plants should be fine with it raised up.

What's your temps in the room? I've found temps make a big difference when germinating. Whether in soil or via paper-towel.
