Someone else will need to chime in on the MH lights. My experience is only with CFLs. I'd also get rid of the tinfoil and move to mylar, from what I understand tinfoil will cause burn spots on your plants. You can get it cheap at walmart ($2.88ea) as silver emergency blankets over in the camping & sports section. Its usually a 6x8 sheet and packed in a small box.

Everything else looks good, good luck with your grow man!

its all i got and it was cheap i got it dollar tree. well it work???
It'll work but could cause you a lot of problems in the long run. Mylar is a lot more uv-reflective than tinfoil and won't cause heat spots.

I started out with tinfoil but luckily switched before I had any problems, much rather waste $4 of tinfoil than have a stressed, sick plant that takes much longer to grow/harvest.

Should work fine, but for good airflow you gotta think about air coming in and air going out. You'll also need to make sure your plants arn't over-winded or they'll get wind-burn.

I recommend a few PC or small clip fans, one or two for intake and one or two for exhaust. You can get small ones cheap at target or wal-mart that are almost a perfect fit for dryer exhaust tubing. I think 'round $8/$10ea. With dryer exhaust you can easily make an activated carbon filter to filter out the smell when you get to flowering.

Edit: to answer your question, it'll work but won't help as far as 'stealth' and depending on how its setup it could cause issues with your plants by either drying out the dirt or blowing them too hard. Also, I use Miracle-Grow and pearlite but you gotta pay close attention to it, MG can be hard to grow with. Some swear by foxfarm dirt, but your gonna pay more.

why use soil I would go hydro. I think its faster less bugs and is easiest to get rid of. goes right down the drain. you can still use the tubes and for the price of top quality soil you can get the same I nutes. jmo

Someone else will need to chime in on foxfarm, I've never used it but this forum has tones of testimonials on it.

leftreartire also has a good point, if you want hydro is a good way to go aswell. You can use the bubbleponics way (dwc w/water flow on plants) or just go dwc (deep water culture) using an airstone and fishtank air pump.

I've seen DWC setups in the plastic coffee containers. I haven't tried this method but probably will soon, its pretty easy but I'm not sure how much work managing nutes and ph is. You'll def need a pH meter for the water if you go this route, you can find them pretty cheap though.

Edit: its best to set a budget, you can easily get expensive but if you already have the good lights, I'd go with some more expense and get the mylar, good dirt or hydro and proper ventilation. If you go hydro you are probably looking $30 to $80 depending on what you already have on hand and what you will need. To get ventilation setup correctly and mylar whether or not you go hydro or dirt your probably looking at another $25/$30. Ventilation is a requirement with those lights, not a luxury.

like they say.....you get what you pay for!!! Im just starting and i am not starting untill i have everything needed and im investing some money in the beginning since i want it to be worth it in the long run!! You spend to much time and energy to have your plants produce a shitty harvest, thats if they even produce!!!

How are you germing them? I also had lots of trouble germing when I first started. In my case it was the seeds. Old bagseeds that even on my best day got 20% germination.

If you can get foxfarm locally that would be a good option. I haven't used it myself, but there are lots of happy FF growers around here. If you get the ocean forest, you may need to dilute it a bit for your seedlings. It is considered a "hot" soil.

With a $100 budget I would make sure to take care of ventilation first of all. Keeping the temps right can be tricky when you are first starting out. Usually setting up your big fan as an exhaust proves more effective at cooling a room.

Obviously you will need soil. Nutes can be a lot more expensive than you think. Especially when you are first starting out.

With your budget in mind, I wouldn't bother w/ hps or 2700k cfl right now. You can always upgrade later. The mh can get you through a complete grow. Just to clarify, is your mh 100 or 1000 watts?

Good luck. I am celebrating my one year anniversary of growing today. :joint::bigjoint: For the next several weeks you may wonder if it's worth all the hassle. Come harvest time, you will KNOW it's worth it. :eyesmoke:

I'm not that patient, I geminated before having the grow room setup, then only had one light for the first week of my sprout, then added three lights and tinfoil, then removed tinfoil and replaced with mylar, then added A/C to the room. lmao

I *should* do more in advance, but hell, much more fun to jump right into the raging fire. ;)

TP can start to disintegrate after being wet for a couple days, but I have used it myself with success.

If this is a personal grow, then you have plenty of lighting already. I misunderstood and thought you had a 100 and a 175w. Good luck.
