I'm getting extremely tired of this "medical" front people are using.

I was using alcohol as an example... just replace "alcohol" with anything else in the world; it will work the same way.
Chiquita Bananas for anxiety and Dole Bananas for headaches. You guys are missing the point though... I'm not saying cannabis doesn't make people feel better.

I fail to see how a peaceful citizen, enjoying homegrown marijuana, affects the rights of severe medical patients.

Even if that citizen were to share with his friends, how is he harming the medical marijuana program?

It has been scientifically that cannabis has medicinal purposes. Are you arguing against science? You must be a scientist then to do that? Have you written any papers on the subject? Done any studies? Tell me, I'm curious to know.

Getting stoned is what relieves my anxiety. When I'm about to disappear to the garage, I tell my wife I'm gonna go medicate. I use that phrase so my 6 year old doesn't hear me say "I'm gonna go hit the bong."

It doesn't matter what you call it...it still works for my anxiety.

How's being banned treating you Fin?:dunce:

Are you people retarded? Why are you preaching to me about the medicinal benefits are cannabis?! Quote me please... when did I say that Cannabis did not have medical applications?

And Flaming Pie, I never said that they were harming the medical marijuana program.

There is no real criteria for it; anyone can go to a certain "Dr." and say they feel better when smoking it and boom... you've got your rec. Every time I hear someone use the word "medicate" or "medicine" I want to punch them in their mouth. Most people feel better when they smoke, otherwise people wouldn't take all the risks and spend all the money to get it, but to call it medicine is just a cop out and an insult to the few people that could legitimately use it medicinally. Please just say you're getting stoned instead of "medicating".

Just because something makes you feel good doesn't make it medicine. I guess I could start referring to Johnny Walker Black as "medicine" cuz I feel better when I drink than when I don't. I'm sure that 95% of you people that "medicate" don't need it and if you argue that it helps with anxiety, etc. Well, they make pills for that. Marijuana is for people with AIDs, Cancer, Fibromyalgia and so on.

Ok, rant over. Thanks!
cop . . . .

cannabear, i am trying very hard not to abuse font and size . . . .

Then why does it bother you? Why is it obnoxious? I don't understand.

This is the quinisessential point. Even if you don't qualify for what the state gov requires as a "medical marijuana worthy condition", you aren't lessening or negating the positive health affects of smoking pot.

Secondly, the logic is that even if you don't have a qualification of "medical marijuana worthy condition", you are still now paying taxes to regain a liberty that should have never been taken, and every time you smoke, there is a probability of a result of positive health effects, even if unintended

You are missing the point.

Whether or not you are using it recreationally, the positive health effects of marijuana are present. You don't just flip a switch on your pipe while smoking to turn the health effects on or off... Unless by smoking pot the individual gets NO stress relief, NO pain help, etc, they are using it with/for "medicating purposes", whether they label it so or not.

"Cannabis isn't medicine, thousands of doctors are committing malpractice, an herb that can be blamed for zero deaths is comparable to alcohol, one of the leading causes of death, oh wait, actually, it is medicine, but if you don't have cancer or aids, you're a frat boy, I want to punch you in the mouth if you say medicate because I'm a twatwaffle, I hate logic."

Nice introduction to RIU dumb ass.

I support total legalization of cannabis as well as most other illegal substances.
I was merely expressing my opinion that it seemed childish, irresponsible, bro-ish, whatever you want to call it to call getting stoned "medicating" when your only goal is getting stoned. I never said it didn't have legitimate medical applications, I never said it didn't make people feel better; in fact I was explicit that I know it does. No one is hurting the program. I just think it's kinda insulting to people that really need it when people that don't need it are calling it their "medicine".

I think the medical marijuana movement actually hurts the move to legalize weed

Colorado is on the right track in most ways
