I'm getting extremely tired of this "medical" front people are using.

When I was a kid in Massachusetts in the 1940-50s, liquor was only sold in state controlled "package stores" which were closed on Sunday.
But if you had a doctor's prescription, saying the booze was for medical reasons, you could buy it at the drug store.
So every Sunday, my Grandfather would open his pharmacy early and stay late to provide medicine for the suffering masses.
Those things existed in some states into the 80s. I think Conneticut and Rhode Island

And you couldnt buy carry out liquor on Sunday in Massachusetts, I lived outside Quincy

Oregon has been that way for a long time........oregon state liquor stores, closed on sundays..........I havn't been to a liquor store in a very long time, but I am sure they are closed on sunday.....You can still buy beer and wine though...............nitro..

Let me add....I don't know what everybody else is smoking, but it sure feels like I got medicated...........

Liquor stores are still closed on Sunday in some states...In minnesota, the only off-sale you can buy on Sunday is 3.2 beer at grocery stores or gas stations.

As recent as I can remember there are still dry counties in NC that you cannot buy liquor at all.

We used to drive 5 mins across the NC/SC state line and buy beer at an ABC store (government licensed liquor store).

There is no real criteria for it; anyone can go to a certain "Dr." and say they feel better when smoking it and boom... you've got your rec. Every time I hear a dirty lazy no good stoner use the word "medicate" or "medicine" I want to punch them in their mouth. Most people feel better when they smoke, otherwise people wouldn't take all the risks and spend all the money to get it, but to call it medicine is just a cop out and an insult to the few people that could legitimately use it medicinally. Please just say you're getting stoned instead of "medicating".

Just because something makes you feel good doesn't make it medicine. I guess I could start referring to Johnny Walker Black as "medicine" cuz I feel better when I drink than when I don't. I'm sure that 95% of you people that "medicate" don't need it and if you argue that it helps with anxiety, etc. Well, they make pills for that. Marijuana is for people with AIDs, Cancer, Fibromyalgia and so on.

Ok, rant over. Thanks!

hey fuck you it shouldnt be illegal anyway you sound no better then the politicians

Alcohol can be and has been used in medicine plenty. Disinfectant, chemotherapy (old school), and people with various mental issues report at least some temporary relief (albiet with a lot of side effects).

It's not good medicine, but to say it has no medical value is not correct.

Anyway, I liked the OP just to dislike it.

Pot is recreational...... for some. For others it may be their medicine; a means of releasing discomfort. Yes, it is very possible that people, who truly aim at using medical marijuana for recreational purposes, are slipping through the cracks. No different than the narcotic pharmaceuticals that plague the United States. If weed was legalized people would not have to use ridiculous conditions as a way to avoid criminal prosecution for possessing or consuming a natural substance.......

I don't think anyone ripped me to shreds...
Most people missed the whole point I was trying to make, so the only thing that really got ripped to shreds were the irrelevant strawmen.

And believe me, the person that says "cheer up" to someone suffering from depression obviously doesn't have a clue. I have PTSD, panic attacks (sometimes), anxiety, and severe depression, so I'm there with you. I know a lot of those meds don't work and a few even make things worse. My gf smokes to relieve her anxiety and depression and it seems to help her.

See my other statement at the bottom of this page.
I know you've been sworn and I have read your complaint...all 5 pages of response. The thread came alive again. Good.

So, what I don't get is, what is your point?

I haven't said anything about it. But, I don't get why you would say that, except for a couple things, really.

Just me and you, OK? What is wrong about making it very open for the compassionate medical self definitions, (as the 9th Circuit has ruled on, btw?)

I'll tell you mine, if you tell me what bugs you so bad. (ignore the hounds with White Troll magic)

Even being drunk it was likely the best post of this thread. Please, return to your regularly scheduled circle jerk.
